I haven't seen this posted yet, so here's news of one event on July 17th. At 10:00 am, in front of the castle, will be a big dedication event with Michael Eisner, Bob Iger, and the governor of California, Ahnold. They will be accompanied by a 50 piece entertainment ensemble (DS is a CM in the ensemble, this is where I got the info). Also, a little tidbit I found interesting-ordinarily CMs get free entry to the parks on their days off. However, this perk is being suspended on that date. This is so that fewer off-duty CMs will be there, so there's more "room" for the many, many guests they anticipate who've probably come long distances and perhaps taking their once in a lifetime trip. So while a few CMs may be disappointed, most of them really understand Disney's thinking. So enjoy-and please take pictures!

Also I have heard that at 4:30pm they will rebrodcast Walts dedication speach over the PA.

I find 4:30 to be an interesting time choice--shouldn't it be 1:30 since that's when the park actually opened on 7/17/55?

4:30 is the time that Walt did the original dedecation speach, at least thats what miceage (I think that is where I got this info) said.

Yep found it at Miceage Scroll to the "Ho-Hum 17th?" section

Does anyone know why the party started on May 5th, and not on July 17th?

It would have made sense to have the party go from July 17th 2005 through July 17th 2006, with special events on both the start and end dates.

One reason they might be considering limiting attendance is to make it more comfortable for the "special" guests.

Roy Disney won't be there.

They started it on the 05/05/05 because its the numbers thing 05 is 50 backwards.

The only limit on guests they will have that day is 80k, IMO.

I think because the start of summer was a better date than in the dead center of summer- Plus I think they wanted to get the media out of the way as I think why May 5 was so bad is not just cause it was crowded but by how much was blocked off by media booths and such...

Is park capacity as high as 80,000?
I was guessing that it is 75,000 (based on some clues, but not on ever seeing this exact information).
I think it was 65,000 at some point in the past. I forget where I found this, but it was old information.

If park capacity was 65000 before the park was physically expanded, and the capacity is now 75000, when some of the park closes (such as toon town) does the park capacity then decrease?

Park Capacity has been "rumored' to be between 75k - 80k. Yes ride closures and I guesss "area" closures would play a big part in this.

I bet itll be close to 75 as there are no rides closed and everthing should be running at full capacity :)

IS IT JULY YET???
