News and Developments for Future In-Person runDisney Events

Still feeling quite optimistic here... my Dopey 2022 training plan is on paper. :flower1: In pencil, TBH, but it's always in pencil, lol!

Part of me expects to hear something tomorrow, National Running Day. But that also feels too obvious, so maybe not.
I’m a little bit hoping they’ll put out a teaser today for an announcement tomorrow... kind of like they did for the summer virtual series... 🤞

I had a dream last night that said the runDisney announcement was coming soon. So I'm taking that as good news. Although in that same said dream, my wife also found a Barbie doll while at Disney that was marked down from $400 to $200 and she kept saying we had to buy it because it was such a "great deal". So take that for what it's worth. LOL!

I had a dream I was thin, fast, good looking and rich - I then woke up and realized I was living a nightmare.

I sacrificed at the Dopey topiary in EPCOT in hopes for an announcement tomorrow on the return of live rundisney events!

Here's hoping a pair of Oofas, some Race Beans, and a ridiculous amount spent on festival booths was enough to appease the run(Disney) Gods!

As much as I’m hoping to see something from rD today for global running day I’m still skeptical that they hold any autonomy to make the decision on when they can hold in-person events. I also doubt that the arm of of the company that can greenlight those types of events has any concern over what would be convenient timing for runDisney.

I’m still more hopeful that we will see something today than I have been any other day up to now (I’ve received global running day emails from multiple other companies already this morning).

I've got a Thursday feeling. Based on absolutely nothing at all. Literally just a feeling. Which Thursday? No clue. But it feels like a Thursday thing. :rotfl:

Yes, but you also posted these prior messages:

I'm not at liberty to say... well, almost anything. So I won't. But I think I can offer this much: I'm feeling VERY optimistic that we'll soon hear something... and that we'll be pleased when we do. :) Fingers crossed and hang tight! Maybe start building some base mileage if you've been taking time off. ;)
Seriously - it's killing me not to share the limited info I received! But I promised I wouldn't, and I can't come up with any good covert way of explaining it: that was the best I could do lol!

So, I'm going to be a little more optimistic about your "feeling", since it hints at insider info. And of course Walt was an optimist, so ... yeah. Can't wait for Thursday! :yay: :teeth:

It genuinely pains me to tell you that this Thursday feeling really, truly is based on nothing at all lol! The inside info I got was very general: my take from it was that we are very likely to see races return soon. But nothing more specific than that, unfortunately. Sorry! :(

I will say that I think any rD news will be preempted by WDW news of mask rule changes, events, reopenings, etc. - so it's possible rD could be ready to announce... something... but has to wait while WDW rolls out other stuff. That's also not based on anything, other than 30 years of watching how WDW PR/marketing rolls.

I'm really hooked on this feeling....crossing fingers. ooga chaka

I am sure everyone saw the recently released dates and pricing for Boo Bash which is the Mickey's Not So Scary replacement. Based on the fact that they are charging significantly more for a shorter event with no confirmed parade, stage show or fireworks, I have a feeling we are going to see a watered down Dopey Challenge costing upwards of $1000 if/when it gets announced.

I don’t know... maybe?? But the Boo Bash is really an After Hours event (not MNSSHP, BB includes ice cream, popcorn, and beverages I think??), and the August/September pricing is in line with past After Hours events (or so says my quick Google search).

I was also going to post about Boo Bash technically being labeled as an After Hours event rather than a Party. They really make you pay for the “free” popcorn, ice cream, and soda. This price is right in line with what those were priced at pre-pandemic (well, the August/September dates anyway). Those events were also much lower attendance than MNSSHP, so the price also included a little more exclusivity. That would be my concern with Boo Bash; if they sell it at attendance levels closer to MNSSHP it really does become much higher price for less time and diminished experience.

Can’t rule out diminished fields and increased race price, but I don’t think this is necessarily a harbinger of that. Day tickets to the parks have been $109 despite capped attendance since Disney reopened, this is lower than most single day tickets pre-pandemic. I realize that with diminished offerings this could still be viewed as a price hike, but it’s not blatant price gouging IMO :confused3

My son was involved in a launch recently that got delayed two weeks because the company was doing their annual developer conference, and nothing that wasn't part of the conference was allowed to launch within a week of the conference. All part of managing the press cycle.

I suspect Disney has a lot more people involved in that sort of timing.
