Hi, since i've been learning soooo much from these boards, thought i'd give my 5 cents back to you guys. I might have missed it, but i never read about the things i learned today:
* We booked our holiday package via the UK disney website and i thought the only "risk" was the exchange rate. However, today i learned that making ADR online is only possible if you've booked via the US website. This brings its own "risk", being the next point:
* According to the Mouse for Less site, online booking nowadays already opens an hour earlier to the phone booking, so at around 6.00 am. This means that those booked via the UK will only be able to book one hour later by phone. In lower seasons this may not be so bad, but in more busy seasons it may make all the difference in getting your ADR or not....
* If you booked via the UK website and you call the US number to make your ADR, they will not find your hotelreservation back via het packagebookingnumber sent to you from the UK website. Consequently, they will need your name, address, resort,.... to find the info they need, potentially making you loose very valuable time..... You can prevent this by calling in the day before your 180 day mark to the US line and ask them specifically to find out your hotelreservation number. This way your booking may go faster than it did with us.
* When calling the US line, they told me that for V&A booking, i could only book at the 180 mark, not at the 180+10 day mark. However, i called V&A anyhow and they were able to make my reservation at 180+10.....

Hope this helps anyone out there !!

Anyone can make online ADRs, no matter what country they are in or who they booked with. I have only ever stayed offsite, yet I have made online ADRs, no problem. The only specific issue you would have with online booking was if you wanted to use your "+10 day" extra window. For that, you would first need to get hold of your U.S. Disney hotel reservation number.

Carl.

Ok, So, I have a question........
I am from the US. And I'm booking a trip, and my 180 day mark is 10 days away! Do I need my reservation# before I call? I want to be able to book my ADR's for the whole trip. Will I need to do the same thing, as the UK guests? I am booking thru AAA, will I be able to use the # they give me? Or do I need to call WDW? I am booking soon, and I'm really cutting it close!!! eeeeeeek! I want to have all my ducks in a row, before I go online to make my ADR's!

Online, to make all your reservations in one session at 180 days out, you will need to have your reservation # (Disney).

I can't speak to calling on the phone because I don't do that.

Hope you got the ressies you wanted in the end janischa!:thumbsup2

I am in a similar boat having booked our trip for next May through Disney in the UK and have today made my final reservation for our 14 day stay! :yay: The 180+10 window is not working online at the moment for anyone whatever their country - if you try it tells you to call. Likewise you can make reservations online wherever you are at 180 days or less. It is annoying as like you said as you do lose that extra hour. That said, if you are still in the +10 window everybody else is in the same situation.

I was a bit confused by the 180+10 booking window so I posted in the UK forum and I got some useful advice (for UK visitors anyway!) to call WDW Travel in the UK on the 0870 number to get the US reservation number in advance. The agent I spoke to gave it to me really quickly (they obviously get a lot of requests) so when I called the dining line it really sped up the process. Having said that a number of agents have questioned the number when I have given it to them saying it is not in their normal format. But when they type it in my reservation comes up! I know it's a bit late for you but this info may help others.

thanks, i did in fact manage to get all the ADR i wanted :-) even the typically more difficult ones like CRT, breakfast at 8.05 in crystal palace, breakfast at 8.00 in Akershus and "drumrolls, drumrolls".... chef's table at V&A (surprise for my parents in law) :dance3:
