Hi Guys,
New here and just looking for a wee bit of advice :upsidedow
Have just booked the newport bay (admirals floor, lakeside room) for a stay in october,
but have now read alot of negative reviews.
Have been to DLP before but stayed in Santa Fe and Cheyenne, what is the Newport bay like?

Thanks

Hi callumdougan and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

This is a popular hotel with many DISers who think the additional cost of the Admiral floor is very worth the money.
I'm sure a few will tell you why they give it the :thumbsup2

I'm sure people who have stayed there will be along soon to answer, but I have heard only good about it. Most posters on here seem to love it.

If you have only stayed at Santa Fe or Cheyenne before, I think you will notice a BIG difference. When we went from Santa Fe to Sequoia Lodge (standard room) we noticed quite an increase in comfort, so to go to Admirals Floor will be quite a jump in quality.

Enjoy. :goodvibes

The New Port Bay is a very nice seaside themed hotel. It's very maritime and even has it's own lighthouse by the lake.
The New Port Bay, the Sequia Lodge and the Disneyland Hotel are my favourite hotels on site.

The NPBC is a great hotel. We stayed there many times and we always try to bock Admirals Floor. It is realy worth it. After the DLH the NPBC is my favourite hotel in the resort.

Hi and welcome - We stayed at the NB and it was lovely. It is a gorgeous hotel and I am sure you will have a lovely time :)

I have read some negitives about some of the standard rooms decor being a bit shabby but I dont think you will have that problem on Admirals Floor level :)

My favourite hotel, we stayed on the Admiral's floor and had the most wonderful stay, don't worry there were negative reports when we went too and I was concerned as it was to be special trip and was booking for another family as well, happily we had no problems whatsoever, our rooms were superb and I much prefer the decor and design to any of the other hotels. I'm sure you'll have an equally great holiday. :goodvibes

I stayed at NPBC Admirals Floor, Lake view last year. I was also scared by negative reviews... But it was an amazing stay. The room was well kept, the staff were excellent, it's a beautiful hotel... We got a bit lost finding the pool though, lol... I'm sure you'll really love your time there, I certainly did!

Hi there!

Disneyfoo and I stayed at the Admiral's floor last June, we highly recommend the Captain's Quarters (I think that's it!), and the restaurant in the hotel, we were invited to dinner by the hotel manager after a mix-up and it was exceptional. The staff are very friendly as well, especially Corine (on the desk) and Santiago from the restaurant, I hope they are working there when you go, as they were fantastic!

The hotel is wonderfully themed, we have stayed in the other hotels at Christmas, my first recent visit that wasn't in December was to here, and it was superb. The Disney-ness of it is amazing, nothing isn't themed, and the only downside to the hotel were the sausages at breakfast. They were veal, and I didn't fancy eating them!

The walk around Lake Disney is lovely, I hope you get to see all the tiny baby ducklings as well, they're adorable! Try to get some dusk/evening pictures across the lake of the hotel all lit up, it's superb.

Enjoy your stay!

Yep, I'm going to agree with all the good reports of the Newport Bay. I've stayed in the same other hotels as you (Cheyenne and Santa Fe) and the Newport Bay was by far my favourite. I was in one of the normal rooms in the middle of summer so was a bit worried about all the negative reports of the rooms being shabby and mile long queues for breakfast but all of these were unfounded. Breakfast was fairly empty every day and the room was really nice with a gorgeous view out over the lake.

The only problem was how long it took to check in but as we'd gone on the Eurostar there were a LOT of people trying to check in at the same time so the wait was understandable and the staff managed it really well.

And finally, as the person above me said, the walk around the lake is worth doing and if you don't have young children walking with you I'd advice walking to and from the parks rather than waiting for the shuttle bus as you get to see so much more and it's actually quite a lot quicker.

Hope you have an excellent stay!

We had a fantastic time when we stayed there, we were upgraded free of charge to a suite. It was fantastic :cool1:

Ever member of staff we came across were very helpful, we had a problem with the first room we were given (most of the light bulbs didn't work) and maintenance were there within 10 minutes to fix it for us.

We didn't notice any area's of the hotel looking shabby. It was very full when we went (end AUg begin Sep) but this didn't cause us an issue, we knew to get down to breakfast early and on the day we overslept we breakfast in our room. IMHO it pays to spend the extra and have a room on the Admarials floor.

I'm sure that you will have a fantastic time if you decide to stay at NBC

Can I just say how refreshing it is to read some honest, favourable reviews of the Newport Bay Club :thumbsup2

In the past before and since our stay I've read many negative ones (not necessarily on this site), some have even made me wonder if I've stayed at the same hotel as the reviewer.

Hopefully the experience of posters in this thread will encourage others to try the NPB, it really is a stunning hotel both inside and out and the service we recieved on the Admirals' Floor was second to none. :goodvibes

I think one of the best benefits on the Admirals Floor (and please correct me if I'm wrong) is that all Adm Fl rooms are in the main central part of the hotel. If you book a standard room, you could be stuck out in one of the wings.

I think another perk of the Adm Fl is that you can go to the breakfast buffet any time you want, instead of being assigned a seating time. Go early if you can - its get's really crowded by 8am.

Our stay and NBC last June was great. We walked to and from the parks each time. Although it's not a short walk (about 20 min if I recall - not including time to get through the security check and park gates), it was enjoyable with the beautiful surroundings. And it's a good warm-up in the morning.
