Thanks for the update! I know oh bad ear pain can be. I am getting ver a sinus infection. That had my eat aching. Not fun int least. I can't imagine flying that way.

I am getting on the boat in Texas today. I will have to catch up when I return. I hope you fell better soon and have a good time! Sick with Disney is better than sick at home!

This morning I woke up feeling great! My ear felt totally back to normal THANK GOD. I woke up at 6:30am so I got very little sleep but I felt good because WERE GOING ON A CRUISE!!! I got dressed, repacked a little, woke up Matt & then we were off. At just before 8am we headed down to the Disney Cruise Line desk, leaving our tagged luggage in our hotel room. Felt a little freaky to leave them there and trust that the porters would in fact get our bags, but this is Disney...theyve never failed me.

We arrived at the DCL desk just after eight, there were two other families there. They did not have us line up, but instead had us take a seat and instructed us that they wouldnt be checking in until 8:30am, unlike a lot of the reviews I read of them starting early. So as we sat there for the 30 minutes we watched excited families arrive and take a seat. There was this one family that arrived pretty much last and took a seat right next to us. When they made the announcement that it was time to check-in I got up and made my way to the desk & was the first one there, that was until the husband literally bulldozed right thru me and cut in front of me at the last minute. This happens to me all the time and it makes me so mad. Its not a big deal as there are many workers to check you in so it wouldnt of delayed me to now be the second one up there rather than the first but its the point. Who do you think you are that you can just push me out of the way to get ahead of me?? Youre not any better than me...and if were going to go the childish way I had been there for 30 minutes vs his 5. I was annoyed and then I turn to look Matt, who was about 10 people aways from me, he was mad. This was not the first time this happened to me this trip, it also happened when we were picking up our bags. I told him to let it go, even though I wasnt, because well be seeing him a lot on the cruise and that would make for an uncomfortable time. We checked in and that went really smooth. Then the woman checking us in asked us the dumbest question of the trip so far... Would you like to be on the first shuttle to the port?. Ummmm. I just stayed at the airport hotel, got up at 6:30 am to be here at 8am and nearly got run over to get almost first in line, but you know what, Ill just sit in the airport for a few more hours for fun and take a later shuttle. Why on earth would anyone want to be on a later shuttle after checking in??? Anyway. It was about 8:40am and we had to be back downstairs at 9:20am for our 9:30am shuttle to the port. So Matt and I headed upstairs to get some breakfast. He had an Egg McMuffin so i went with the cinnamelts. I told him since he got himself an Egg McMuffin and I cannot partake in the greatness of the one and only Egg McMuffin, he was not getting any of my cinnamelts. He thought I was joking, and normally I wouldnt hold it against him that he was eating eggs and I wasnt. (If you dont know already, while on our honeymoon we discovered that I developed an egg intolerance. I can eat eggs cooked in things but if I eat like a fried egg, for example, I spend my vacation in the bathroom.) This morning though, I was slightly annoyed though, so when I realized I was actually in the vicinity of a McDonalds at breakfast hours for the first time since my intolerance discovery and then realized that I couldnt have an Egg McMuffin, coupled with the angre I was still holding at that bulldozing idiot downstairs... yeah, he wasnt getting a cinnamelt. Matt laughed at how annoyed I was and said how cute it was. Yeah, cause when youre trying to make a statement of how mad you are & youre husband tells you that youre cute it kinda enrages you all the more. I had to laugh when he kept at it though. That Matty boy, hes so good at making me laugh...even when I dont want to.

After breakfast we headed back downstairs and then it was time to get on the motor coach. I was getting excited, that was until we had to sit one row away from Mr Bulldozer of the Year. Ugh. Matt wanted to say something, but I explained in more detail about how on the ship you run into the same people a lot and its really just not worth it. I then patted myself on the back because this guy really ticked me off & I was having trouble letting it go, but I still talked Matt out of confronting him. After a 40 minute or so ride we saw the first glimpse of our ship as we drove up. The Fantasy is so much larger than Disneys older two ships that Im used to. I was giddy now. Finally, I was giddy. Not feeling annoyed, sick or anything else except pure, cheesy giddiness. We pull into the cruise terminal and since weve already done all the check-in stuff at the airport, we just headed in thru security and then explored the terminal. The terminal is so nice, with the giant model of the Disney Magic. Matt loved looking at it and and one point said, What I wouldnt do for some action figures right now.. What a child. We went on the outside deck to get a little better view of the Fantasy and then headed for some seats by the ships entrance. We made some last phone calls and read thru the Navigator (the ships daily events newspaper, if you will) to see what were some must dos. We saw tonight they were doing their version of the Newlywed show and I told Matt, firmly, that I was NOT getting up there. He really wanted to. After a few minutes more more and a couple views of some impressive but very annoying child tantrums, it was time for us to get on the ship! We got on the ship at just around 11:15, we were up at Cabana's buffet enjoying our heavenly lunch out in the gorgeous weather by 11:30. It was beautiful and so exciting... that was until the clouds starting rolling in. Literally & figuratively. I started seeing some ominous looking clouds headed our way and in around the same timing I noticed seated at the table NEXT TO US, you guessed it, Mr Im better than you bulldozer. Ugh. Can I please get away from this guy. So I sat for a little bit giving him the death stare, but God protected me, or should I say him, because it started to rain so we had to head inside to get a table. Perfect distraction. The food at Cabanas was awesome. I had the best lamb, just like my moms. So good! The chocolate chip cookies were really good too.

After lunch we explored the ship & took the spa tour to enter the raffle. I wanna win a free message! We didnt. Oh, well. After touring and spa-ing (kinda) we could finally get into our rooms!! We headed down to our room and there sitting on our gorgeous bed was my Castaway Club (previous cruiser club) gift, a backpack. Also sitting on the bed was the gift basket I ordered from The Perfect Gift for my Matty. As if there isnt enough food on the ship I ordered him a gift basket full of his favorite drinks and snacks as well as a Yankee lanyard to hold his room key and two magnets for our cabin door, a Yankee and a Giants, to go with my Mets magnet. He was surprised and was like a kid at Christmas. Our room is great. Im very impressed with the decor and who cant be happy with their room when theres a private balcony overlooking the beautiful ocean, I mean really. The location, all the way aft (back), (arent I fancy with my ship terminology??) ended up being really good. Cabanas is three floors directly above us, the basketball courts are 5 floors above us, the night clubs are 4 floors below us & the main evening restaurants are very close.

Once the the room had been explored, we headed to the mandatory Muster (safety) Drill. That was pretty uneventful, although its now twice as long because they do it in English and Spanish. Oh, well. After that we headed back to the room to unpack. Our luggage made it safe from the hotel as Disney promised. Once we were done unpacking, we headed to tonights theater show, which was actually really good. I didnt think Matt would like it but he said it was good. Then it was back to our room to get ready for dinner.

I was really excited for dinner!! Disney honored our request and gave us a private table, THANK GOD! Mr Chatty Matty would have done fine with sharing a table with the strangers but I would have developed a twitch. Our waitresses, cant remember their names, were really nice. I really like our head waitress, the assistant is funny but a little much. The menu looked really good and I was having a hard time deciding because everything sounded so good. Our assistant waitress came over and introduced us and Matt & I were horrified. Heres this nice woman talking to us, trying to get to know us since shell be serving us all week and I could think about anything but the fact that she had a giant bat in the cave looking me in the face!!! If you dont understand, the girl needed a tissue, STAT! Shes now standing over us and all I can think is, Please dont drop in my water glass!. Ew! So she small talks with us as we both are dying and then she asks if theres any food allergies. I said no. Then my lovely, wonderful, knowledgable, fantastic, hot husband utters the words that nearly got him thrown overboard, Actually, shes allergic to eggs. So I quickly say, No, no, no. Im not allergic to eggs. Our assistant waitress looks at me, bat is still in the cave, like she doesnt believe me. So again I say, very firmly, Im NOT allergic to eggs. She then goes on this whole speech about she has certain protocols she has that she must follow for allergies. I then insist, Its not an allergy. I can eat foods with eggs cooked in it, I just shouldnt eat like fried eggs because it upsets my stomach. She isnt listening & acting like Im lying. She goes on to say she wont be able to serve me the bread... Im ready to kill Matt & the looks hes getting from me, he probably was contemplating jumping overboard himself. So he starts chiming in FINELY saying how he misspoke, etc. She still wasnt buying it. So I say, I dont have an allergy, its an intolerance. I can eat bread!. She seemed to have gotten it when I said intolerance and moved on. Thank you! Matt immediately starts laughing and apologizing as soon as she walks away. Listen, you dont keep food, especially bread, away from this Italian lady. I made him sweat a little and then we laughed it off. That was until I see our assistant waitress headed our way with the restaurant manager!! As a long time cruiser I already know whats in store. He comes over with his little pad and says, I understand you have an allergy to egg, so we will have the chef make a special menu... Oh my God!!! I cut him off. I do not have an allergy to eggs. I have an intolerance. I can eat food cooked with egg in it. If I eat eggs straight, like fried it upsets my stomach. It will only be an issue at breakfast & I just wont order eggs. Thankfully after a little more insisting he felt comfortable that if they served me bread, for example, I wouldnt die. I was going to kill Matt. I was so annoyed. I knew he didnt know any better and was just trying to help. However, Im almost 27 years old, if when asked if theres any allergies and I answer for myself, I think I know what Im talking about. What was going thru his mind, I have no idea, but I know that he wont do that again. Our dinner finally began with a slew of amazing food. Matt & I both had the prime rib and it was amazing. We were so full. Our first dinner was a success.

After we stuffed our faces we headed over to one of the adult night clubs, The Tube, for the Not So Newlywed Game. Luckily, Matt realized how cruising worked and knew that if we did it wed spend the rest of the cruise being stopped by people wanting to talk about our appearance, etc. He also knew that his introvert wife would probably have a stroke if she was forced to go up there. It was a hysterical show. One of the couples up theres son & daughter-in-law were sitting right next to us cringing at the answers they were hearing. It was awesome! After that we headed to the room as we were walking zombies by that point.

I havent had the time to get the pictures uploaded yet, since were just getting into the swing of things & figuring out our schedule. I should be back to normal blogging by tomorrow.

Great update! Except for Mr. Rude, ugh some people are unbelievable, but you probably did the right thing by being the bigger person! Hope you have a great week and looking forward to your pics! Make sure you ride the AquaDuck, we did on the Dream last year and it was great!

This morning I woke up at 6:30am and laid in bed until 7am. I typed up some of my blog while Matt slept. Once he was finally up at around 8am, he went to play basketball while I stayed in the room diligently typing my trip report for the day before. Aren’t I the studious vacationer? :teacher: I tried to post it and upload pictures but I was having connectivity issues. My computer wouldn’t connect to the WiFi. It was weird. I finally gave up and figured I’d come back to the room later and give it a try. Matt returned I got was lucky enough to hear, in detail, all about his basketball struggles as of late. After “The Anatomy of Matt’s Shooting” class we headed up to Cabana’s, the buffet, for some breakfast. Let me tell you, it was crazy up there- this was at about 10am. Honestly, I don’t care for their new layout versus the older ships. On the older ships there’s one line, everyone gets on it and is headed the same direction. This new way is these little stations all over the place, which in theory is nice because, say you want another piece of toast, you don’t have to wait on the entire line just for some more toast, you just go to that station and grab it and go. However, maybe it was because it was the first morning and everyone was still getting used to the flow, or lack there of. It was crazy! People were coming from every direction. You turn to walk away and you nearly have a head on collision with someone coming from the opposite direction, I missed some food. There’s no rhyme or reason to the stations, so if one gets really crowded, there’s no clear way to line up so it’s just a wall of people. Very strange. Now, I’m gonna give it the benefit of the doubt and see if things calm down some as the trip goes on. The food selection was okay. This is my first breakfast buffet since eggs are a no no for me, so that was sad and it didn’t leave a ton of options. There were no waffles, which is what I was craving. They did have french toast and pancakes, regular & blueberry. I went with a piece of bacon and sausage, the blueberry pancakes, a bagel, a glazed jelly-filled donut & raisin bran cereal. It was a carb fest basically. It was all very good. Matt had all kinds of good stuff that I don’t really want to talk about.

After breakfast we headed to the adult only pool. What magical words when put together. :cloud9: We decided to go one level above the pool, since the pool area on this ship is basically in total shade. The next level up has a bunch of pool chairs, surrounding a little 2 foot deep wading pool, “Funnel Puddle” with this little fountain in the middle. Perfect for cooling off while still getting some sun. I was under the impression that this area is also adult only & I was throwing a little tantrum in my head as I watched this 6 year old girl running laps splashing her way thru the little pool. She basically took ownership of the entire thing. I decided that I was going to say something to one of the workers, but decided I should totally be sure it is in fact still adult only, since we’re one floor above the adult only pool. I read the pool rules sign and there it is, “Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.”. This annoyed me. The adult only pool has like maybe 20 loungers on it’s deck and non of which are in the sun. If you want sun you go the next level up. I don’t get why Disney doesn’t make this area adult only too. It’s not right and this is another thing about the new ships that I don’t really care for. Tomorrow we’ll check out another area, I thought was adult only, but now I’m not sure. It’s all the way forward, “Satellite Falls”. Another area full of lounge chairs with a small wading type pool with water features. So we stayed in the “Funnel Puddle” area anyway. I decided putting on sunscreen was probably a good idea so I took out my brand new bottle of moisturizing sunscreen. This sunscreen was the same type that I used for my honeymoon and I really liked it. It’s not the exact same one, the packaging was slightly different. It said it offered a nice sun shimmer. Since they were out of my one, I went with it. How different could it be? Apparently VERY different. I start to put it on and I’m suddenly covered in glitter! :pixiedust: Nowhere on the bottle did it indicate that it has glitter in it. I looked like a Justin Beiber loving, teeny bopper. I was completely covered in glitter, from head to toe. Worse yet, I forgot Matt’s sunscreen. I should of not said anything and slathered it all over his back as payback for the egg fiasco at dinner. I decided against it, so Matt headed down to buy himself sunscreen. He got 70spf which for me if I use I won’t get any sun. Thanks a lot Mr. Super Cautious. Now I’m stuck with my glitter fabulous sunscreen. Now not only am I covered in glitter, but everything I touch gets contaminated too! Glitter everywhere! Matt made fun of me pretty much all day. Once we were all sunscreened up & glitterfied, I laid in the sun for a bit while Matt went in the pool just down stairs. He came up and laid for a bit, but like I knew he would, he got board and wanted to move on. The guy cannot sit still. So I decided I’d run down quick while he stayed with our stuff and try at the internet again to post my blog, then come back up to the pool & then he would head to the gym while I laid in the sun. I was able to get on the internet this time, so I posted and headed back upstairs. Matt spent about 30 minutes in the gym while I sparkled in the sun. It was like a scene out of Twilight. :lmao: Matt rejoined me at just the right moment, cause I was hot! So we headed down to the pool, which now had sun on it, all the loungers down there are still fully shaded. We sat in the pool for a while and then we saw these ominous clouds come rolling in. Literally in like 2 minutes it went from a gorgeous day to crazy weather! You looked out to the ocean and all you could see was white. Looked like we were on an airplane in the middle of a cloud & then boom, it was pouring and the wind was nuts! I thought we were on our was to Oz. There’s no place like home... Matt ran upstairs to get our stuff while I took cover by the pool. What a guy. The crazy mini tornado thing lasted for about 5 minutes. Matt had taken shelter upstairs, so I waited for him to come back downstairs. We decided to go into the hot tub since they are covered, basically almost indoors, if you will. The hot tubs are awesome and I had never heard about them. They hang out over the side of the ship and the floor has a large piece of glass so you can look down to see the ocean below. Freaky and cool all wrapped into one.:) The one problem with hot tubs on a cruise is they’re a trap for talkers. Matt is a talker. So we spent the next 20 minutes, correction, Matt spent the next 20 minutes talking to everyone who joined us, while I did the smile and nod every 2 minutes or so thing. I did have to join in when Matt told the people I was also a DVC member. Great! It’s not that I don’t like people, I just hate small talk and am really not too good at it. Thankfully, Matt knows me enough to know, that even though my head was above the water, I was suffocating, so he did the whole, “we’d love to stay but we gotta go eat” trick. Nice! We told them it was nice to meet them and headed out of the hot tub to dry off and get something to eat. One problem, these were DVC members. I think there some unwritten rule somewhere, that I of course don’t follow, that DVC members must be super friendly, because these people followed us to our seats and continued to talk to us (Matt!) for an additional 15 minutes while we kept trying to go eat!! :scared1: Finally, we broke away from them and headed for some “fast food” by the pool. That area was crazy, loud & chaotic! I got a bacon cheeseburger, of course, and Matt got a mozzarella, tomato & basil panini.

After lunch we headed inside since it rained the rest of the afternoon. We ended up going back to the room so Matt could watch some football. The sports bar, O’Gills, was packed! It worked out good though. Matt watched football and some movies while I slept. :cloud9: Tonight we were going to see the stage show, Aladdin, at 6:15. It is formal night tonight, but I decided to shower and get ready before the show, but put on a track suit for the show and then after the show come back and put on my dress. I’m on vacation...I want to be comfortable. Matt did the same, but thankfully put on a suit rather than a dress. ;) Before we made it to the show, however, we had a “show” of our own. On the first day I had read on the pamphlet that the smoke alarms are sensitive to steam, so to be sure to shower with the door shut. No problem. So tonight I got in the shower first. I came out and was putting on my make up while still in a towel while Matt got in the shower. Matt showered pretty quick and upon opening the bathroom door after his shower this alarm starts whaling!! I look over and can see the seam around the smoke detector so right away I know what it is, poor Matt has no idea. So I yell to him to shut the door, so he got back in the bathroom and shut himself in. The thing is still blaring and our phone rings. It’s an automated call saying, “You’re smoke alarm is alarming...” No kidding genius. “...call 911 and evacuate your room immediately.” What?! I’m in a towel, Matt’s in a towel locked in the bathroom not having a clue what’s going on. So I realize that cruise ships are serious about fires. If a ship catches on fire, there’s serious issues since you’re in the middle of the ocean. I’m thinking that they’re gonna be at our door any minute. So I yell to Matt to get out here & get some clothes on quick. I’m trying to throw on anything, but like the OCD person that I am, everything’s put away. So I grab a t-shirt & sweats and as I’m pulling on my clothes the phone rings again. It’s the bridge! :scared1: They told us our alarm was going off. What do these people think we’re deaf? So I cut him off and say I think the shower set it off. So he says ok and tells me that he’ll reset it. That’s it? He’s just gonna take my word for it? I was surprised. I thought for sure they’d want to inspect the room or something. Then I realized with a smoke alarm that sensitive, if it was an actual fire it would just go off again. I was a wreck after that. I was glad I already had my eyeliner on because my hands were shaking big time from the adrenaline. I for sure would have poked my eye out on that attempt. Matt & I laughed at the whole scene that just took place in our room. We didn’t need to go see Aladdin after that, we create our own entertainment. I finally stopped shaking about 10 minutes after the Steam Fiasco of 2012. I think tomorrow, Matt will wait like 20 minutes in that tiny bathroom before he comes out. So we finished getting ready and headed to the theater. The show was really good. I was impressed. Matt was disappointed that it wasn’t Robin Williams playing the Genie but other than that he loved it.

After the show, we went back to the room, put on our formal clothes and went to get a picture on the grand staircase in the lobby. It came out okay. I always look really weird with those big professional flash. The lines for pictures were long but moved pretty quick. We waited about 25 minutes, got our picture and then it was time for dinner. Our dinner was in Royal Court tonight. It’s theme is french and Disney princesses. Each princess has her own section. We were lucky enough to be seated in a small private room with only 5 other tables and it had a view of the lobby. It was really nice. It was Princess Tiana’s room. The food was really great & our waitress brought out a serving of wild boar for Matt to try in addition to his beef tenderloin. He really liked it. They had bread tonight that I didn’t love. It was very crumbly. At one point I took a bite and a large chunk went down the wrong pipe, at that exact moment the head waiter, Mr No Eggs for You, happened to stop by the table right next to us. So I start choking and all I can think at this moment is how this guy is gonna think I’m sitting here having an allergic reaction to the egg in the bread. So I’m choking & tearing, but on the inside I’m laughing hysterical at the irony. This is the first time I’ve seen the guy since I insisted the eggs in the bread wouldn’t harm me. I’m still choking after quite a while and Matt is on the same train of thought as me. The guy is stand with his back to me but extremely close, since the tables are super close together. Matt’s whispering “eggs!” “the eggs!” in an evil laugh and I’m dying. Again, on the inside hysterical laughing, on the outside choking, but I’m also starting to get a little nervous cause I can’t stop coughing & I don’t know what this guy is thinking right now. He finally walks away and our head waiter, who I love, but have forgotten her name again, comes over to ask if I’m okay. I squeaked out “wrong pipe” and she was cute telling me how she hates when that happens & to take my time and not to mess up my make up. She took Matt’s order and by the time she got to me, I was finally getting my voice back. So I gave her my order and took a drink of more water. Dinner was great, other than that. Our assistant waiter had a little mind game trick that Matt figured out. He was so proud. :)

After dinner, was the adult only show by one of the acts on board, Buckets & Boards. They’re from Branson, Missouri & have a show there in the spring & summer. Their act is like combining a hillbilly comedian, a blue grass singer & the off Broadway show, Stomp. They were really good and great at working off the crowd, especially the drunk, heckling guy. It was very funny. It was standing room only by the time we got there, so we ended up going over to another bar, where they were live streaming it. I think we ended up being better off because we could see them real close. Once that was finished we headed up to the pool deck, deck 11, and walked around for a bit and then headed to the room. Crazy enough, we both felt hungry so we ordered room service. I shouldn’t of bothered because by the time they came, 30 minutes later, I was asleep. I did wake up and eat though. I had pizza & the cake of the day, Pumpkin Pie. Interesting that the CAKE of the day was actually pie. :) Matt had buffalo wings AND a philly cheesesteak sandwich, both he really liked. About 2 minutes after my last bite, I was out. I know, real healthy. Matt stayed up watching a movie until I don’t know when.

What floor are you on? Thanks for the tip on the hot tubs they sound great, if you can have one to yourself. We are the opposite, my DH will hardly talk and I'll talk to well, almost anyone!

Sounds like a nice relaxing cruise so far, can't wait for our turn.

25 days!

Today we had our special Palo Brunch at 11:30am so we had a very relaxed morning sleeping in and for me, blogging. We got ourselves ready pretty quick and decided to head up to Palo a little early. They seated us right away. We had an American waiter, Dylan from Tennessee which was unusual. He was very nice and easy to talk to. He took us to the the buffet area and gave us the tour of all the amazing food, I felt that the selection on the Fantasy, while still very good, was not as much as on the older ships. Maybe it’s me, but I felt like there wasn’t as much variety. Nonetheless it was still to die for. We had all kinds of goodies. Matt even tried a seared Ahi Tuna steak and didn’t hate it. Matt is trying to get more into seafood. After the buffet selection of pastries, fresh berries and cream, shrimp, crab legs, scallops, artichoke hearts, caprese salad, cheeses, meats etc. we ordered our pizza to share. We went with half sausage and half blue cheese and grape. It was amazing. Next Matt had a cold strawberry soup that he loved. I didn’t want to waste my appetite, since my mom’s been making that soup for us since her first stay at the Grand Floridian where that soup originated. For our entrees, I of course had the to-die-for Chicken Parm, which I finally got the recipe for and Matt ordered the fritata. I had gone on and on about the chicken parm to him but he still decided to go with something else. After one bite of mine, he was blown away. He was disappointed he didn’t get the chicken parm and was already too full to order it. He made sure the waiter gave me the recipe. :) After that it was time to head back up to the buffet for our dessert. The big hit for Matt was the Mango Panacotta, which I agree was very good, and my favorite was a Peanut Butter Cake (?) which was like a light fudge almost. It was amazing. :cloud9:

After brunch we rolled ourselves back down to our room to change into shorts. We decided it was the perfect time for me to whip Matt’s butt at the mini golf on the top deck, and I did just that. ;) After that we headed to set Matt up with an appointment to try his hand at the sports simulators they also have up there. He’ll be doing that on Thursday at 2pm. Next we decided to put on our detective hats and try to figure out who stole the Muppets props for their big show. This is a new feature only on the new ships, where you search all over the ship for clues as to who stole the props. Each clue is received from a pieces of artwork throughout the ship that magically come to life when you hold your detective badge up to it. It was awesome, but exhausting! They have you walk all over the ship. Clues are on every deck and sometimes at multiple locations on some decks. We didn’t quite finish the game because we were headed to the movie theater to see Brave, which we had not seen before. We really enjoyed it and I was surprised the theater was packed. I figured everyone had already seen it and would want to be enjoying the sun. Once the movie was over, we went to finish our detective work. Apparently, there’s different versions so you can play again and again. We may try at it again since it really was a lot of fun. I mean it’s the Muppets. What’s not to love?!

Next up we headed to the room to get ready for tonight’s show, Wishes. We felt it was a little (a lot!) cheesy. ;) Still very well done and very impressive but it followed teens afraid to grow up and they go on this magical journey as their big wish. We did enjoy hearing some of the classic Disney movie songs that were a part of it, but next time we’d definitely skip it. After the show we went and sat on my favorite part of the ship, the Promenade and looked at the stars and watched an INCREDIBLE lightning show. We walked the whole deck and then decided to head to the sports bar to see if they’d be showing the Yankee’s game later. They were showing the Cardinals vs the Nationals game and they kept talking about the Yankees being in a rain delay, so there was hope, for Matt that he’d get to see the game after dinner. Yay! We sat for a little bit watching the Nats game and a couple came to sit with us. The seemed interested in the Yankee game, so Matt asked the man who was his team, his answer, “You don’t want to know.” So my thoughtful husband said, “Oh, you’re a Mets fan?”. Ouch, Matt!! You couldn’t of just said another team first. I mean come on. Why when you speak to a suffering baseball fan, your thoughts automatically go to the Mets? The more painful part, he was right. The guy was a Met fan. :sad2: So we sat and talked about our pain. He was a partial season ticket holder in 2007, the year of the great collapse. I told him how my brother and I were full season ticket holders that year. We shared how we both were at some of the same memorable games that year, like when Lo Duca got ejected and flipped out throwing his gear onto the field  or when Glavin blew it for us in the first inning of the must-win last game of the season. Ugh. Okay, enough of that, I’m on vacation!

After that crushing conversation we headed (I whimpered) to dinner. Tonight we were eating in Animator’s Palate. Boy did they make big improvements to an already awesome restaurant. The interactive screens with crush talking to you as you eat, the fish swimming throughout it. Very cool. Since we hadn’t eaten here yet, we were being escorted to our table when the coolest thing so far happened. I literally walked right into the infamous, Ronaldo!!!!! Our assistant waiter for our two week transatlantic cruise in 2010 that my parents & I took, just before I met Matt. Renaldo was the highlight of our trip and he actually cried when we were saying goodbye to him on the final morning of the trip. He told us how we were so different from most guest and that he just felt happy whenever he was at our table. We used to stay late after dinner and hang out with him and a bunch of the other waitstaff. He was so funny. Everyone knew Ronaldo. So I was so excited to see him. Matt had no idea what was going on when he saw his extremely introverted wife scream, “Oh, my God!” and hug this waiter. I immediately introduced Matt and upon hearing his name, Matt knew exactly who he was. He recognized him from the pictures we took with him and all the stories I had told him. Ronaldo got all excited and asked if my parents were there & he was really disappointed that they weren’t. He even asked me twice. :( We had been friends on facebook but he had to close his account and open a new one, so we lost contact. He spent the rest of the night coming over to our table and hanging out whenever he could. He even came and did a magic trick for us. On our trip he would surprise us each night with a lemon carving of some sort that got more impressive each night. One night we had two mice made out of lemons. He even introduced them to us and told us their life story. :lmao: So when he came over tonight he told us that he’s way past lemons and how that’s kids stuff and moved on to magic. I asked him if he was still an assistant waiter and he said, “Yes, cause I like to talk and I’m not carrying trays around.” So if you’re headed on the Fantasy request Ronaldo from the Philippines. You won’t be sorry. I couldn’t believe the odds of finding him on board and then he told me that he just got back on the same day as us from vacation. What are the odds?! So we hung out with Ronaldo catching up and then it was time to go see if Matt’s precious Yankees were on tv. We told Ronaldo we’d go to breakfast at Enchanted Garden tomorrow morning where he was working so he could serve us.

We headed to O’Gills, the sports bar, and the only game being shown was the Jets game. Matt’s a Giants fan and apparently the Jets were going to get slaughtered in this game, so we headed up to the top deck to walk around and take in cruising at night. I love being on the top deck at night. They were showing the Jets game on “TunnelVision” the giant screen by the pool, so we sat for a little bit and watched since at that point the game was close. We sat for a bit and the longer I sat the more sleepy I was getting. Matt tried to keep me awake by getting up and going on another walk but it was too late, I was zombified. So we headed back to the room and watched The Muppet’s Treasure Island which I’ve never seen. I made it to the opening credits. :)

I am from New England (Massachusetts), and love shrimp, lobster, scallops, fish, but AHI tuna, i can barely watch someone else eat. It just doesn't look good enough to try, to me!

Love that you found a lost friend on board, Ronaldo sounds like a great guy.

Hope you are still having fun, and I love the updates.

Sorry for the delay...having pirate night followed by an early morning excursion thru me off, but I’m getting ahead of myself.

Today we were finally going to see land. We arrived at St. Maarten with an ashore time of 8am. Matt and I were not on an excursion so we kind of took our time. All aboard time was 6pm and we were planning to just have a beach day so we didn’t need to be off the ship right at 8am. Ronaldo was serving breakfast at Enchanted Garden so we decided we’d hunt him down and enjoy breakfast with Ronaldo. He was as fun as ever. He brought his cell phone so he could show me his now 2 year old “mini Ronaldo”. The picture was of mini Ronaldo sleeping but he was covered in yellow & green warpaint. Ronaldo told us how one of his hobbies is painting on his son when he’s sleeping and then watch him freak out when he wakes up. He’s too much. Enchanted Garden is a buffet for breakfast just like Cabanas but you order eggs from your waiter. Matt ordered an omelet while I secretly sulked and filled up on donuts, potatoes, sausage & bacon. :)

We got off the ship right around 10am. It was very easy to get a cab to the beach. They have a cab stand set up with a spot for each popular place that most likely you’re going. We were headed to Orient Beach. We sat on the bench waiting for more people to arrive so that we could get a cheaper rate. After about 5 minutes another couple showed up and were were off. 2-5 people was $7/per person each way plus tip. The ride wasn’t too long and if you’ve been to many caribbean islands you find that they all look the same driving thru town...pretty crappy. Once we arrived at Orient Beach our driver pointed out where the nude side was, to the right, and set up a time for us to be picked up. We all agreed upon 4pm, that gave us 5 hours on the beach. For whatever reason I decided to not bring my iphone which I’m really disappointed about as all the restaurants that rent out the beach chairs and umbrellas off wifi with the rental. Ugh! :( Oh, well. The place he dropped us at was “Sexy Fruits” The guy there offered two cushioned chairs, an umbrella, wifi & two drinks for $14. It was a really good deal, but me being the prima donna that I am, I wanted to go to the “fancier” side of the beach, to the left. We told him he wanted to walk around and check it out first. So we headed left and ended up almost at the end to a much nicer looking restaurant that at the moment I can’t really remember the name of. Something like Kaliki Kaluki. It was much nicer, they offered two chairs & an umbrella for $14 but no drinks. The restaurant was a lot better looking. In theory we could have stayed at the other place, then just walked to a nicer restaurant for lunch but, primma donna here, :wave2: and I’m on vacation. I don’t want to walk up and down the beach with all my stuff to go get lunch, so we stayed at there. We had a nice day on the beach. For lunch we ordered a pizza and chicken caesar salad. They both were very good and very large. They served it with a basket of French bread and everything. The total was $30 something. I charged it on my Visa and there was no where to tip, so I assumed since it was the French side that there was no tipping. Hope I didn’t mess up there. :worried: It was so nice to sit in such comfortable chairs and have your lunch brought right to you. We had carried our bottles of water from Matt’s gift basket, so we didn’t buy drinks. At 3ish we started to get our stuff together and head back to “Sexy Fruits”, seriously, that’s what the guy decided to name his place. We got there early and were waiting at 3:30pm. The owner of “Sexy Fruits” (the more I type that the more ridiculous it sounds) saw us sitting and waiting and asked us who we were waiting for. We told him and then he said you can wait or just take another taxi & pointed to the taxi about to leave. So we said how we didn’t know if we should do that since our guy was coming back for us & that we didn’t mind waiting. Then I don’t know what happened but the next thing I know they owner is telling the taxi that’d we’re coming and that he’s let our taxi driver know that we got another ride. Oookay. Then as the owner is calling our guy he starts giving us this speech about how people screw over taxi drivers and tell them a time and then leave earlier and make the taxi driver take the trip for nothing. He was really angry at us. So I said that we were fine with waiting, again. This guy was nuts. He came to us, pushing us to take another taxi driver and then when we finally, reluctantly said okay, he flipped out on us. This guy was getting on my nerves. So we head back towards the beach and after a little bit our driver shows up. He lets us know he’s there and tells us we’ll wait a little for the other couple and if they don’t show, we’ll head out. So Matt and I were just hanging out and then we can see that the owner is now heading to our taxi driver, arms flailing, yelling. Matt & I look at each other and we knew this guy was now trashing us, when we were the ones who kept saying we’d just wait. So my wise guy Matt starts walking over and Mr Sexy Fruits (false advertisement) ;) suddenly changes his tune and starts praising us and telling our driver that he’s not talking about us and that we’re a good couple who waits. What a whacko. The couple never showed up but we lucked out and got a family of four so our price went down to, I think, $6 per person. The ride back is a lot faster, I guess they use different roads. Once we were back on the ship, Matt went to play basketball while I took a nap in the room since tonight was pirate night and I wanted to be able to stay up past 9pm.

We got ready in our pirate t-shirts, which were a big hit.Who doesn’t love the Goonies? If you’d like to see them, there’s a pic in my PTR. I won’t be posting pictures until I get home, so if you don’t want to wait, head on over there. Our servers Nicole, from Trinidad & Tobago, & Angela from Serbia, did a great job at getting us out of dinner in an hour so we could head up and get a great spot for the fireworks. We got an awesome spot and sat there on towels for over an hour. They had Muppet Treasure Island on the Funnel Vision (the giant screen by the pool) so it went quick and we got to watch all the people in their pirate gear. People REALLY get into it. It was impressive and a little creepy all rolled into one. :lmao: The show wasn’t as good as the old ships, but apparently you could see that version earlier in the night, minus Mickey on the zip line. The later show was for an older crowd which was good but it was a miss in my book. It was basically a bunch of pirates chasing Capt Jack around a tiny stage. The fireworks were better than I remembered actually. We watched the fireworks and then headed to the Pirate Buffet. We both were feeling really fat, so we didn‘t want to eat anymore. We, instead headed to bed since we had to be up really early for our excursion tomorrow in St. Thomas. I was trying my hand at snorkeling again. Fingers crossed it’s a lot better than my awful experience on our honeymoon.

CrAzY!!

So no ventures over to the nude beach? I think I'd choose the "fancy side" also.

Looking forward to reading more, you are a good story teller, ya'v left me hanging on for days now ;)

Hope Matt isn't too upset about Jeter's ankle! Not my favorite team, but I feel for the guy.

Hope the remainder of your trip is going well, look forward to reading more.

Love your trip report.

I have only sailed on the Magic, so I like hearing about the Fantasy.

Everyone in my family loves the Palo Chicken Parm.

Can you share the recipe please????

Thanks,

Lori

Love your trip report. You had me laughing so hard when I was reading the part about the bat in the cave to my husband. He uses that term and it never fails to make me laugh and cringe at the same time. :crazy2:

Can't wait to hear more about your trip. We're taking another eastern in April, but our first on the Fantasy.

Hey guys. Sorry for the delay. The trip got so busy at the end there that I decided to stop with the live updates. A first for me. :sad2: I'm home now & I am planning to finish it, but it'll probably be a little bit longer. This coming week I have jury duty, my birthday & a funeral. It seems everything is hitting at once. I promise I'll be back at it & with all the pictures.

Thanks for all the comments! I will get back to each one of you. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to the rest of your TR......was enjoying your "live" report.:goodvibes

I am loving your writing style. :thumbsup2 The picture of you two in your jersey's is super cute. I love it. Is that your wedding (or grooms) cake to the right in your signature? I'm just taking a wild guess here...you two love baseball? :lmao:
