Friday 7/15: Our last day in the WORLD
Well, this was our last day... We got up early and went over to SSR to meet with Amy Colbert about a DVC membership. We are definitely looking into it after talking with her, although we may not do it right now, it is a MUST-DO on our list. She was so helpful, so sweet and really made us feel like it was a perfect opportunity for us. After our meeting was over, we went back to AKL to get our bags and check out. We get there, and realize that neither of us had grabbed a room key. So I had to hurry downstairs get a copy made, and then run back to the room. I made it just in time as the CM said that it would stop working at 11am, and it was 10:56 when she gave me the key.
We packed our stuff and took it to bell services and I did our Airline check in at the kiosk downstairs as well. And headed to DTD for lunch and some more souvenirs. We ate lunch at Cap'n Jacks, which was AWESOME! Yummy... One of the best French Dips EVER! We walked around DTD for a while, and then it was 4:45, and it was time for us to go to Fulton's. So we headed there, ate dinner, and then headed back to AKL to grab our bags, get the last of the souvenirs we had delivered to the resort and catch our limo. I was sad throughout this whole process as I knew we had to come back to the real world soon.
Also, here's where the story turns bad... We catch the limo, get to the airport, and I'm trying and trying to check our bags, and the 'self-service' machines for Delta, keep telling me that there is no flight information for a flight from Orlando to Indianapolis with a connection in Atlanta. So I ask the counter guy... And it turns out, all flights from Atlanta are delayed. So I have to use the black phone and figure out what's going on. Finally I get to talk to someone, after waiting for 10 minutes, and he says that the flight FROM Atlanta is on time, but the one from Orlando to Atlanta is delayed and will land 15 minutes after the other leaves. I said, well, what can you do? He tells me that there are no flights into Indy that night from ATL... So I say 'What about Louisville?' Finally he gets us a flight from Orlando to Louiville, and it leaves at 9:55. Which is 2 hours away. Well, that flight gets delayed to 10:15... and while I'm on the phone (a payphone, the cell was dead) trying to call our families to find someone to pick us up, it gets delayed again, to 10:30. finally 10:10 comes and we board. It's the small plane I have ever seen. It has 2 columns of seats, with only 3 across, but alas, it's a plane. So we board, and head home. We land in Louisville at 12:08, my parents pick us up, and we're back in the real world.
I promise I'll have more pics soon!!! I hope you enjoyed my story!
