Are there rides you can carry your newborn on? I know if it has minimum height then the answer is no. But what about the safari, the tram that goes around tommorowland, etc? I have not seen any guidance on this.

Newborn as in under 1 month old???? I don't think I'd take them on any rides. The noises and everything are just too loud. If we're talking a 3,4, 5 month old-- there are many rides they'll let you hold them on. It really becomes a matter of judgement from that point.

Sorry, guess I should have specified. 3 1/2 month old. Thanks for the link, checking it now. MY seven year old was so fired up to go this year we figured will just make the best of it however we have to with the baby.

I took my 3 month old on pretty much everything without a height restriction. He was perfectly fine. A lot of the time he would be sleeping and never even woke up on the ride. Just we aware of rides that have a little drop or something unexpected in them... Pirates of the Caibbean has a little hill, Maelstrom has a bit bigger one. Buzz spins but you have to make it spin. I even took my DS on the Kilimanjaro Safari. That one can be a bit bumpy, but we still did fine!

After I posted I see you added that the baby was 3 1/2 months. I think you can do what I did and take him on everything! It was really easy taking a baby that young. The baby ceters are great, so take advantage of them! You can do the parent swap on the bigger rides. Your 7 year old can ride those rides twice!! He/she should really love that! Take a stoller where the baby can lay down. Bring a light blanket to drape over the open part of the stroller to keep out the sun. Our 3 month old DS did awesome on his first trip. Didnt slow anyone ( especially his 2 older sisers) down!! Have a great time and take tons of pictures. The next time you go back the baby might be walking and hugging characters!!

Last April we had a baby. We also have an 11 year old and PAPs. Once the baby was 6 weeksd we started taking him with us to the parks. He loved the lights. I covered his ears on many attractions, because yes they are loud. He never startled or was scared of any of the rides. He is now 13 months. He still loves the rides and the shows. Even in the haunted mansion he's busy pointing. He laughs when it turns around backwards.

Don't hesitate to make use of the baby care centers. We used them frequently! So much in fact, that once when he was 6 months old we went into the AK baby care center to nurse and change a diaper and he ended up in Disney's new vacation planning DVD!

Can i ask??? WHAT time of year are you going????????? Omg...a newborn in disney in the summer....BRUTAL!

Might I suggest taking along a sling? I have never been very good at using one, but boy oh boy was I glad I had it for our WDW w/ a 10 mo. I got pretty good at it pretty fast.
I had never thought about carrying her all the way through the lines (after parking the stroller) or on the buses (after folding the stroller up) and the first time I had to stand on the bus holding her, I vowed to take the sling every day. It worked great (also used it for a nursing cover up in shows.)
It also helped me hold on to her on rides like the safari and Peter pan, where I also had a hand on a toddler.
Mine is an Over the Shoulder Baby holder, but there are many that would work.
Have fun, might as well take the baby while he or she is free!

We just purchased 2 from New Native, one to fit my wife and one for me. Haven't used them yet but have heard nothing but good things from friends.

I dunno. I'd be a little reluctant to take a baby that young on rides. Even on the tamer rides there are so many colors, noises, motions and lights that might scare a very young child (they don't know it's supposed to be fun). Then you may have a screaming little one for the duration of the ride, and I know I wouldn't want to distract the other riders with a crying baby. But then, you may have an extremely placid or unflappable baby. You'd know best.

There's a way to keep everyone happy - use the Baby Swap option. Just tell the ride CM that you want to Baby Swap. Your spouse rides with your 7 yo, and you wait in a special area with your baby. When your spouse gets off, you hand the baby to spouse and you ride. You get on the ride from there, you don't have to go back and get in line again. Your 7 yo can probably ride again with you, if they'd like to. (Depending on the ride and the CM.) You can also do this for both of your children on the rides your 7 yo can't/won't ride.

If it were my 3 1/2 month old, I'd definitely use Baby Swap.

I think with a 3 1/2 month old it's a much different story than a newborn. So, I'd use your best judgement. The drop on Malestorm-- I personally think is a bit too intense for a baby that little. However, I think things like IASW, Spaceship Earth, and TTA would be just fine.

If you are going in the summer-- remember to give the baby water in addition to formula.

When we were at AK a couple weeks ago, there was a couple with a baby that couldn't have been more then 2 weeks old. The baby still had the umbilical cord stump. The baby was only wearing a diaper because it was 95 degrees out. I couldn't believe these people!!!! Anyway, they took this baby on the safari ride, NO WAY would I do that, way too bumpy and too easy to knock the baby on something.

We took our 4 week old on most rides that had no height restrictions. Half the time she slept right through them....when we took her back at almost 4 months we took her on the same rides again and she loved looking at all the lights and hearing the sounds....

::MickeyMo We were at the AK at the end of May and saw the same thing. A family sat behind us with what appeared to be a newborn in his car seat. They sat the baby's seat on the bench next to them during the Safari. I don't think the baby made a sound though. LOL :confused3 Rebecca

I just want to know how it makes everyone happy? What if she actually likes her DH and wants to ride with him? I know I do, that's why I'm bringing a babysitter with me.

May I ask what is so "rolley-eyes" about what she said?? That poster is exactly right in her comment.

To me it is just plain rude....The poster was asking what rides to go on with an infant not what GinaGrumpyDwarf thought of taking one and when.....

and the comment is not "exactly right"...not everyone feels that way.

Please everyone remember that this isn't a debate on if it's the right thing to do. Also, it's up to each of us as parents to make the judement call. Lastly, remember that when you post touchy subjects on a public forum board you're likely to get questioned about it.
