Newbiew question - Points at Reservation

We are not DVC owners...yet! It is my dream. So in planning toward our goal this is my question. Say I buy a resale that won't have points available until December of 08. Do I have to wait until the points are available in December before I can make a reservation? Or will they let me make a reservation as long as it is after the points become available?

No. You can always reserve 11 months ahead of travel for your home resort. The reservation date determines which Use Year the points are deducted from, and that UY just needs to have enough points for your reservation.

i think the op means could they make a reservation before dec 08 at the 7mouth window at any dvc resort. i think you could borrow the 08 points i could be wrong i know someone out here will chime in with the correct answer. the use year is from dec. 1, 2008 to nov. 31, 2009 the banking window is aug. 31, 2009

Both of the above answers are correct. Once your contract is closed and you are in the system you can use your points based on the ability to bank and borrow. You could borrow the 2008 points to make a reservation before Dec 2008 or you could make a reservation for sometime in 2008-2009 using your 11 month or 7 month window depending on where you want to reserve. If your contract closed and you were in the system May 1, 2008 you could make reservations for anytime between then and Dec 1 if you borrowed points from 2008 or at your home resort for reservations 11 months from the check out date at your home resort say March 26 - April 1 2009. You could also reserve 7 months out at other resorts.
