Hi Everyone!
I've been participating over in the trip planning/park threads, but came across this forum and think its just about the most inspiring thing I've seen in a long time, and the MOST TIMELY for me: today I started the South Beach Diet Phase 1. What a coincidence that I'd come across this forum! Right place at right time...
So about me:
I am 42 years old
I am 5 foot 2
I currently weigh 160 pounds.
My overall goal weight is 135.
I have done Weight Watchers, which got me from 192 to 150. Then I sort of stalled and try as I might I got bored with WW and tired of counting points. The weight has been creeping up over the past 15 months. I don't want to go back where I was, at 192, but I'm SO TIRED of points right now! I know the WW program works, but I just want to look at something different for a while that will give me some quick results off the bat and then play it by ear after "Phase 1" which is the first 2 weeks.
One big detail is that while on WW, I could have sweets as long as I accounted for them in my points. I am just not good at stopping once I start, so taking a little piece of something was pretty much IMPOSSIBLE for me. On SB for these first 2 weeks there are NO SWEETS allowed. I think this is a better way for me to go at this point, because I am not good at having "just a little".
Today's food:
B: 2 eggs, chopped tomatoes, 2T feta cheese, can of V8
Snack: cheese stick, 15 almonds
L: BIG salad with grilled chicken, chopped cucumber, basalmic vinaigrette, cottage cheese
Snack: can of V8
D: 7oz filet mignon, salad (tomatoes & cucumbers, basil vinaigrette), 5 shrimp (I was mad - we were at a restaurant and I requested STEAMED veggies - the cook simply took them out of the saucepan and steamed them - but they already had oil/butter all over them! GRR!
)
Snack: FF sugar free fudgescicle
I also had a ton of water (some flavored with crystal lite packets), and 2 coke zeros (they recommend caffeine free if possible, but I have none).
Most of the next 2 weeks will look like this - low fat protein, no breads or fruits. The purpose, according to the SB Diet book, is to remove the cravings for sweets/sugar. During "Phase 2" fruits will be gradually added back in, and WHOLE grains only (no white bread, white rice, white anything)...Phase 2 seems to be focused on PORTION CONTROL.
I'm planning to update my food diary and weight in this thread - hope that's ok? I thought that was how I understood this forum to work!
Happy losing everyone!
