I am the proud new owner of disney vacation club property. DH bought while we were on the Dream last week. I am so excited. But still a little confused. Can't wait to start reading the boards and figuring things out. Our home is animal kingdom villas.

Welcome. You will find that your WDW vacations will change quite a bit, mostly for the better. Hope you're aware that when you stay in a DVC unit, you will not get Free Dining, when those packages are offered (unless you get the FD package somewhere else). You can purchase one of the Dining Plans. I prefer having the kitchen and laundry availabilty (saves me time and money, and we eat more appropriately). You will be spoiled and find most motel/hotel rooms disappointing. And, you will be bitten by "Addonitis." DVC vacations tend to be much more relaxing. Congratulations, and enjoy!

You picked a great resort to own for point usage! You can splurge it up and stay in a concierge villa or skimp on points and stay in a value villa!

I saw in your signature that you've mostly stayed in values, and as someone who stayed in values until DVC (with one trip to POFQ in the mix) I can tell you you will be blown away by your accomodations if you opt for a 1 or 2 bedroom (or even a grand villa). It takes the whole vacation to a whole new level.

We are new DVC owners as well (purchased in April)...and AKV is our home, too!

I was definitely confused at the beginning...and to be honest, still don't know all the ins and outs BUT definitely know a lot more than when we first joined...thanks in large part to the folks here on DISboards who are a great resource for information!

Our first stay as DVC owners is at the end of November/beginning of December!!!
