Newbie with lots of questions!

Greetings all.

I am somewhat new to VMK. I have a character from when it first started that I kind of forgot about and now I have a new character that I've been playing with for about 2 weeks.

I've been working my way through the quests with a lot of help from this board (yes, I'm a lurker ) but I still have some questions.

1. I understand what a mule is and even happen to have one. What I don't understand is how do I transfer items from one character to the other? I tried signing them both online at the same time to trade but that didn't work.

2. I've been to the spell room and seen the neat spells but where do I go to actually obtain those spells for msyelf? I've tried asking people within the game but always get no answer. Am I guilty of some faux pas just for asking?

3. I've seen some really cool costumes/hats/furniture pieces but can't figure out where to get them or if they're even available any more. For instance the crowns, mickey ears of different colors (black, gold, etc.), princess dresses, and the skull room are all items I'd like to have if I could find them.

4. I find that when I try to just make friendly chit chat with others that I get no response or a rude response. For instance if I tell someone I like their outfit or hat I usually get a response of "I'm not trading!" instead of "thanks, I like your hat too" or something. What am I doing wrong?

5. I know that we are not supposed to discuss Dis within VMK but is there a universally understood sign to let others know we are from Dis? I made it part of my name but I see that's not commonly done.

6. I stumbled upon a closing party in the castle forecourt that was cute and fun... does this happen anywhere else in vmk? Any area that is usually a dis hangout? I work nights so I'm usually online for the last hour or two of the night.

7. How do I put a photo of my vmk character here in my signature?

Well i either do that, with two different browsers like IE and Firefox, but it work better with two different computers

No your not. Fanastyland spell room - Inferno is won in Host games, the usually say if they are giving it as a prize. Invisiblity was won in pirates, on the old game, so right it is retired(i may have an extra). Teleport is won by the Tomorrowland in-park quest, which may be downloaded on the vmk home page. Fireworks is won on the firework game by getting 240,000 points
or more and coming in 2nd or lower place. Also it is now giving by how much you play, if you make it to the last level. Magic Carpet, is not out yet.
AdventureLand Spell room- All of these are attainable by the codes on top of the fourm under the sticky code and other stuff, by JeanJoe.

the outfit come out at certain times like host events or holidays, usually unannounced. The are usually at the emporium. Most of the costumes out now were all from the Halloween event. The superhero costume were out for superhero month. The only hats you can get in the game is the Stitch hat, which gotten by booking a trip to disneyland online, maybe phone, and the Bird hat, which was part of and retired pirate quest. The pirate costume can still be won on the the new pirates game which is on the VMK homepage.
4. I find that when I try to just make friendly chit chat with others that I get no response or a rude response. For instance if I tell someone I like their outfit or hat I usually get a response of "I'm not trading!" instead of "thanks, I like your hat too" or something. What am I doing wrong?
No, remember alot of these players are kids, though just find a diser we will talk to yea.

Well we can't because vmk doesn't want people to talk out side of vmk. Well we can't put dis boards but just dis, and if anybody ask what dis means you can't say dis board.

There is usually a closing party, where dis just come and meet. Somebody just randomly picks a room and it is a closing party. once you have more dis friends, just ask.
7. How do I put a photo of my vmk character here in my signature?
To take a pic is in the VMK guide on top of the fourm under the Sticky The unoffical guide posted by Mal. Then use a photo site, like photobucket or image shack to bring it on the internet.

It's easy!

Here's how to do it using just Internet Explorer(IE):

Log into VMK using the direct login link:
https://secure.disney.go.com/vmk/en...oginPage&bhcp=1

Open up another IE window. In that new window, Log in with the other character using the direct login link above. If your characters are not friends, then have them both go to the same instance of a public room, for example, Main Street North. Use the advanced mode check box so you can see the different instance of the public rooms.
Then just initiate a trade!

It's a bit difficult to explain in vmk speak in the game and it takes a long time, so most people don't bother trying...look in the Player's Guide sticky post at the top of this forum.

People have found that the next sentence after "I like it" is "Can I have it or will you trade it"...so people are a little wary.

Sometimes I say something like "Dis is a nice party" as a clue.

There are "mickey dancers" almost every night in the castle forecourt.

Hello and welcome to the DIS board,

First, it really pays for you to read all the "sticky" threads on the board, you will get a wealth of information there. They are at the top of every page in this DIS/VMK board.

1. The method I use is found on it own thread in message number 9:

2. You can get the 3 magic pins from the Kellogg’s Discovery Island room using the codes from the thread:

The magics from Spell Room is either obtained from winning a mini game, visiting a Disney Park and playing a in-park quest, or trading someone in the game. The rarest magic is Inferno and it cost a lot to trade for it. You can win it in a staff game or start collecting rare things in the effort to trade. I won mine, because I'm rather bad at trading and people ask for more then I have in trade, but you might be one of those people who are good at it, you never know until you try at few times. There is a trade section of DIS that you can lurk on and get the feeling for trading before trying it yourself. Start with something small and work your way up.

3. Most of these things were sold in VMK at one time as a special week/weekend deal but are gone now. You have to trade for them now.

4. Just move on, just like real life there are nice people and rude people in VMK. There could be many reasons, maybe they are away from the computer in the bathroom, or getting a drink, or entering codes, or talking in trade with someone else, or disconnected from the game but they just haven't disappeared yet. If someone says something rude, again either just move on or you can try to report them but most likely you will be ignored by the staff or they will send you the message to push the "ingore" button on them. I personally have never received any "help" from the VMK staff anytime I have tried using the "help" button.

were you can see the VMK name of DIS people.
Mostly I have gotten to know people here on DIS and it carried into the game. Some people have dis in their signature or in their room descriptions, and people have been asked to remove it by VMK staff but I never have. My first room in VMK has the description "Part of the dis river network" in it.

6. I love closing on VMK, it's my favorite time of day. Yes, there are many closing parties daily in VMK, in just about every public room and many guest rooms. The first few weeks of my time in VMK I did closing at the Castle forecourt with the Mickey Dancers. I bought my own little VMK Mickey outfit. But as I got to know more people here on DIS I have tried to do closing with one of them. There is no way to get all the members in one room, since VMK rooms can only hold about 15 people, so there are generally 3-4 DIS room closing every night. I just check my friend list and pick one. Sometimes the room might be full or in a room of a person not on my friend and I can't get in. It is not personal, just pick another one.
