My son is a cancer survivor and we are going to Disney in February through Make a Wish and staying at the Give Kids the World resort. Have no idea what to expect. Any insight would be much appreciated.

:cheer2: Welcome to the Dis :cheer2:

I don't have any info on the Make a Wish program, let me say god bless you and your family. I hope you have a magical time, you deserve it :grouphug:

Welcome Deeremama! Your family is going to have a blast!!!! You will be absolutely amazed by GKTW. It is an extremely magical place. You will be pampered beyond belief. Ice cream for breakfast! Bedtime stories told by a giant rabbit! Fishing! Movies! Christmas celebration every Thursday evening! Snow! I don't want to give it all away. I think it is just as magical as Disney, actually more so because of the reason it's there. Can you tell I'm crazy about this place? My family volunteers there. If you are there on Christmas day look for us in the Gingerbread House for breakfast or dinner. We'll be the crazy family in the Stitch Christmas shirts and the wacky hats! Or any Thurs in the Video room. By the way, any of you looking for a place to donate to this holiday season please consider GKTW. :cheer2:

Where is it located in the realm of everything. I've got a map of the entire Disney property, so I wasn't sure if it was there or someplace else. Our wish grantor will be getting with us after the first of the year to go over details, but I'm such an organizer, I want to know it all now! Also, what should I do about character breakfasts/lunches/dinners. Do I schedule those myself or wait for our Make a Wish grantor to take care of that for us?

Here is the link for Give the Kids World Resort.

They aren't actually Disney, because that particular resort is a non-profit with their own medical facility on site (of course), while the rest of Disney is a regular business. However, they KNOW Disney and Disney knows them very well, they work together alot.

Your contact at the Give the Kids World will certainly know how to make your priority seatings for dining at Disney, but I've found it's much easier to call Disney dining directly and make my own reservations, because you get a confirmation number right away.

Oh, and I recommend you pick up this book at your bookstore:

It's the PassPorter's Walt Disney World For Your Special Needs guidebook.
