Newbie "use year" question.

I find the "use year" business a little confusing. If DH and I plan to vacation anytime between the middle of Oct., through to the middle of May, what is the best "use year" month?

Just about any use year. Use year has nothing to do with when you can go, which is any time of year, and when you can call to reserve which is always 11 months in advance at home resort and 7 at others.

If you normally vacation between October and May, then an October use year will be best for you. That way you will have the greatest flexibility with the banking deadlines in case you have to cancel a reservation.

I agree with Dumbo, the use year is generally more important for many than usually noted on this board. It is particularly important for those where plans may change shortly prior to travel, say within the last 3-4 months.

I agree. With 41 more years worth of reservations I'm sure there will be times when we need to cancel. It happened to me last year. 6 weeks before a much anticipated family vacation I had to cancel due to an unexpected circumstance. Fortuneatly, because of my use year, I was able to bank all the points that were used for the reservation.
