Hi All,

Currently looking at going to LA, Anaheim, NY, Washington, Ottowa.

Looking forward to getting some good tips and suggestions from you all as it is all very confusing.

Welcome to the Disboards AilJ :yay:

You'll find lots of useful information here, I find just reading through other people's threads a fantastic source of information.

At what time of the year are you planning on visiting in 2016? I ask because depending on when you go, will depend on the activities you can do. If your going around Halloween, Disneyland has beautiful decorations and special events in the park, the same with Christmas time. If your going in July (during the US school holidays) you will need some strategies for dealing with the crowds!

If your going at Easter time, there will be crowds for Spring Break but not as bad as other times of the year. If your interested in comics etc, Wondercon (run by the same people who organise Comicon) is usually on at the Anaheim Convention Centre (across the road from Disneyland) during the Easter weekend. Wondercon is 10 times larger than anything we have in Australia and people go in the most amazing costumes.

I can't say alot about LA, only because the last time I spent any time there was about 18 years ago and I am sure it has changed heaps :) And I can't help you with Ottowa either (although I would love to visit).

New York and Washington are both great, there is so much to see in both cities. Washington has so many museums, and the majority of them are so close together (National Mall). My favourites are the Museum of Natural History and the Air and Space Museum. There is another Space Museum near the Dulles Airport (Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center) where you can see a Space Shuttle (I think it was Discovery). The great news is the majority of the museums in Washington are free.

New York has museums too, but to be honest during our trip there last year we didn't make it to any as there was so many other things to see. Rockfeller Centre, Empire State, Statue of Liberty, Times Square, World Trade Center memorial, broadway....the list goes on.

If you can give us a bit more information on what time you are planning on going, how long you have in each location and whom in your party is going, I am sure there will be heaps of people here who will be able to offer some helpful suggestions. :)

Yay! I too am planning a trip back to the land in 2016! Good to know i'm not the only one thinking so far ahead :woohoo:

Have experience in NY, LA and Anaheim..... what sort of help and suggestions are you looking for??

My suggestion for LA would be to stay at lowes hotel Hollywood behind the Chinese theatre. Allows you to do all the shopping and tourist things around there at your leisure without public transportation. Also has a nice pool and a good vantage point for the sign. I wouldn't spend more than 3 days in LA unless you want to go clubbing
