Newbie to Universal - dumb questions galore

Hi all.

I'm an annual DL/WDW visitor, who is now faced with my daughter's school schedule having gone back to the traditional times off, rather than the off season vacations we were used to. As a result, I've just booked us on a trip to Orlando for the week leading up to Easter next year.

Now that she is 10, I'm wondering if Universal might be a worthwhile option for a day or two of our vacation? If it is, can anyone use their crystal ball (or at least talk about their previous experience) with how crazy crowds are at that time of year. I've experienced WDW once around Easter, and learned quickly about being there at rope drop, powering thru for 3 hours and then leaving the park between 11 am until after dinner.

In looking at Universals' website, it looks like you can buy your ticket and then you have the option for another $90 to get the equivelent of an unlimited fast pass??? Do I have that right, and considering when we would be there, is that something that is recommended to do?

Thanks all. Once I know the answer to this, then I can book our days (and will then be back on the board with a million more questions, I'm sure).

You can either purchase the unlimited express bundled with your ticket or upgrade your ticket at the park once you get there.

I'd like to know if it's worth it also. Going to WDW in December and maybe spending a day at US/IOA.

The crowd calendar from Orlando informer for late March to early April ranges from busy to very busy. Depending on how many people in your party it may be cheaper to stay on resort than buy express for everyone. Staying on stay gives you unlimited Express pass for about every ride. One night stay gets you two days of express pass which cover 90 percent of the rides plus early entry on one of the days which should take care of the ones that don't have express like the new Harry Potter stuff.

In looking on the Universal website, I read the hotel offers to say that one night only gets you one day of express passes. I would be grateful if you could direct me to where it talks about receiving two days worth.

Very much appreciated.

Something else to remember. If you aren't sure whether you want to get the express or not, you can always check crowds once you get into the parks and upgrade INSIDE the park.
