Hi all,

We have never used an online grocery delivery service (netgrocer, peapod, etc.) for stays at Disney. We are seriously considering trying it for our next trip. Does anybody have any advice? When do you order? When does it arrive? Do you order at home before you leave? Do the groceries come to bell services or to directly to your villa? As you can see I have never done this. I would just like to avoid the inevitable grocery trip store we always have that cuts into our hectic first day. Also, :goodvibes do they have alcohol available (other than beer and wine)?

Thanks!

Is net grocer a shoppng service, or do they simply "ship" groceries to you from their warehouse?

I would go with a shopping service like Garden Grocer or We Go Shop

I have no personal experience with either, but both receive recommendation from DVC Board posters. I have read that Garden Grocer will do alcohol on request, I do not know if wegoshop will do adult beverages or not.

Do you have to be in your room for delivery? Or will they deliver to bell hops so we can pick it up later or if our room is not aval. yet?

We used Garden Grocer for our trip in April. I ordered about a week or so online before we left. If you order more than $40 worth of food, then you can add beer & wine to your order. You put that request in the comment section of your order at the end.

I provided them with my cell phone number and they called when they got to the resort. Unfortunately, our flight had been delayed by about 2 hours, so we were just on our way out of the airport. That was no problem for them at all. We requested that they come back in about an hour and they did just that.

They called our cell again and we gave them our room number. The delivery person was very nice. He handed me my grocery list and we went over every item to make sure that we got everything we ordered.

We paid in cash, but had we paid by credit card, they could have left our order with bell services.

I hope this helps. We found it to be so convenient. I use Peapod at home as grocery shopping is one my least favorite chores and certainly not anything I want to do on vacation.

Have a great vacation.

We've used gardengrocer twice--very easy. Like the previous poster, I ordered about a week ahead of time. I paid by cc, so the the groceries could be left at bell services. We like to get right to the parks. When you order, you type in a requested delivery window time. Last Jan. when we checked in, our groceries had just arrived.

I had a pretty large group- ordered about $200 worth of groceries- including beer, wine, laundry soap etc. I waited until a week before our trip and could not get it delivered on our arrival date of Sunday but they were able to do Mon AM between 8-10. You do have write in beer and wine and be very specific including size of bottle such as 1/5th. I even called back to order more wine before we got there and they just made me send them an email. Cold stuff was cold- even ordered ice cream. They even unpacked it and put it in the fridge. if you go to their website, you can see all of their choices. I even got one of the fresh cut up fruit plates and it was great. So was the homemade salsa. It was great not having to go to the store. We did have a few things left over but I felt like it was going to be used because the maids were sort of swarming when we left. They also called me on my cell when they were shopping for our wine to ask a question. Give them a try. They will deliver to the bell hop and they can also keep stuff cold and deliver to your room when you get back.

We've used wegoshop each time. We ordered about 2 weeks before we left. We give a specific list of items and a second choice in some cases. We have ordered beer and wine. We have her shop @ Super Walmart for us and we order a styrofoam cooler when we're in a studio.

We always call her cell when we've arrived and checked in and give her our room number. Then she'll call our cell when she arrives and we meet @ the room. She even uses coupons and splits the difference with us!!

I just placed our order with Garden Grocer. I added the beer & wine in the comment field. When I called and spoke to someone there they gave me a fax # to fax a copy of my ID so they could leave the beer & wine with bell services in case we are not at the resort.

Anyone know how much the styrofoam coolers cost at Super Walmart? I am also trying to find out what brands of wine they sell and how much they charge. I am thinking of calling the store directly. We drink Sutter Home white zinfindel and my DH likes white. He is not as picky, just likes to drink what is on sale.

We used Garden Grocer for our trip this past May based on all of the comments and reviews here on the DIS. We actually had a bad experience with them, though I am going to give them another shot in August. We'll see....

We have used Wegoshop.com 4 times and have been satisfied each time. We ordered about a month in advance and reserved a delivery time at that time. They guarantee a 30 minute window for delivery and they have always been right on time. We have ordered beer and wine each order.
I like the idea that I can specify anything I like, rather than spending the time at an "online store". You specify whether you will accept substitutions or not.
They gave us an 800 number to call with our room number once we were checked in.
When we last used them, there was a surcharge for credit cards, so we paid by check.

I just bought one at the Super Walmart near VB and it was about two bucks... With another two bucks for ice...

As far as grocery delivery services.. Everyone has their favorite.. The predominate two most posters seem to user are either Wegoshop or GardenGrocier... We've used Wegoshop several times and have never been disapointed....

Thanks so much for giving the price on the cooler. I was not sure as I have not purchased on in years and all the summer stuff is pretty much gone around here. Pretty sad as it is only mid July but the stores feel the need to stock Halloween stuff already.:confused3 I am definately going to get one and it looks like we will use Wegoshop once again. I thought it may be cheaper to use Garden Grocer but they have the minimum. Seems silly and they are losing business, they still get the same delivery fee so it kinda does not make sense.

Mind if I ask what went wrong? We are thinking of using them in September...thanks!!!
