Hi,
We are complete newbies to everything WDW and Universal. I have been the one researching our entire vacation (WDW) but now one of my family members who is travelling with us wants to go to Universal Studios to see all the Harry Potter stuff. She will be travelling solo from Port Orleans Riverside to Universal. She does not like to use her computer so I can't suggest that she check out this forum but does anyone have any useful websites that I can check out for her and print off stuff?

Specifically, I need to find her information on how to get from POR to Universal for one day (and how long it will take, how much etc). I also want to find out as much information about the Harry Potter section (although, I imagine I can find that on the Universal website).

Thank you for ANY information you can provide.

This will be our first trip too so, as you can imagine, I've researched til am almost blue in the face. I found that Universal's website provided a lot of information and then anything I thought I needed clarifying, I just typed into google and loads of great sites came. I don't drive so we're reliant on cabs. I found most transport companies (Mears etc) were wanting $40 + tip in rush hour and half that any other time. Mears does do a shuttle service which I believe is $19 but there was no mention of if tip is included or not. Shuttle service makes various stops at other hotels on the way to pick up anyone who's booked it so one day you might make 3 stops, some days it could be ten. That was going from the area near Disney's Contemporary Beach Resort (we're staying at Hilton Bonnet Creek next door to CBR). Hope that helps! :)

We have a sticky thread for transportation questions:

Check out www.universalorlando.com for information regarding the parks.

Just a note...some websites are not to be mentioned on the DIS which is why some posts get edited.

note. We did Universal for the first time this past summer. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is well worth it. We stayed onsite and the line was long even with the early entry. In the evening, within the last park hour, the wait was much shorter. I think it was probably 30 minutes or so. I did the solo line twice in less time than that. The first time I waited less than a minute at loading. The second time was less than five.

My family of 6 did US/IOA last October while at Disney ... Called mears, got a minivan taxi... $35+ tip each way from OKW...

I've used the Mears shuttle many times to get from WDW to Universal. I have never seen any more than three stops. The last time I used it, I was the first person on it. They picked me up at Wyndham Bonnet Creek, then made a stop at AKL. They dropped off a couple at Sea World, then dropped the rest of us off over at Universal. Coming back the stops were PORS, POFQ, and Bonnet Creek. The time before that they had picked up at Pop, then picked me up at CSR, then made a stop at CBR before taking us directly over to Universal. Once the stops were only CSR and Pop with a quick drop off at Sea World then Universal. Another time the only stop was CBR. We had a full van load, so the driver picked us up and took us all directly over to Universal. Again I have used them many times over the years and have never seen even four stops, much less ten.:rotfl:

The $19.00 r/t fare does not include the tip.
