I just found this board from the directions of some kind folks on the Theme Park Strategies board. Is there a complete list of all the running events at Disney for 2012?

DW and I just started running in January. We both wanted to lose weight and get into better shape. We started running on our treadmill just trying to do all we could do in 20 minutes. I finally got to the point where I was running a pretty good speed for the full 20 minutes so I stretched myself out to the point where I was running 5 miles per day at about an 8 minute mile average. In the process, I was able to drop 50lbs to get myself to my college weight of 205.

DW had finally gotten herself to the point where she could run a 5k in about 30 minutes on the treadmill. We decided we would both brave the highway we live on and start running in the early morning hours and work on our time on the road. Our short-term goal was to run in the annual Jingle Bell Jog where we live in December. This would be our first race.

2 weeks into our "road" running, we're doing pretty good. I'm running more her pace since we're running at 5am and trying to be safe by staying together with reflective vests, headlamps, etc.... We've been averaging about 9 minutes per mile, but consistently shaving time off every week.

Our goal for the Jingle Bell Jog is 22 minutes (me) and 25 minutes (her). I feel confident we'll get there. I was running it in about 21 minutes on the treadmill so the pace I can handle once I get accustomed to the road vs. the treadmill.

We both love WDW so much and are planning to run some of the races there in the parks. We won't make it to Marathon Weekend this year since we'll be going to WDW later that month, but would love to look at possibly doing a race later in the year.

Yes, if you search "rundisney" you will get to their web site and see all the races.

Here's a quick list of their races:
* Walt Disney World Marathon
* Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon
* Disneyland Half Marathon
* Disney’s Princess Half Marathon
* Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Sounds like your training is going great. And your times are pretty fast.

It is fun to combine fitness/running and a love of Disney into one.
That's why I've done both the Princess 1/2 (last Feb) and the Disneyland 1/2 (Labor Day weekend).
And I got my Coast to Coast medal to boot! :banana:

Welcome to the WISH discussion boards. You will find great information and words of encouragement from everyone who posts! :cool1:
