Ok, don't laugh....I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but but I can't find confirmation anywhere. Do the DVC dues increase each year? DH wants to see a complete breakdown of the costs of DVC over the life of the contract.

Thanks!!
Sammy

Sometimes and sometimes not. At OKW, our dues have even gone down sometimes. If they do go up, it is usually only a few cents.

Yes, they can increase. We have been member since 94 and they have not gone up that much. In fact, one year they went down. The dues are in the range of 3-4 dollars or a little more depending on which resort you own. We own at OKW and VB. VB has more expensive dues probably because of the property taxes in that area. I think they can't go up more than 10% a years but I am not sure about that number. They have never gone up that much. We have done the math and even if the dues go up a lot it is still a good deal. We usually stay in a GV and at about 1200 a night we save a lot of money. We own 600 points and can stay about 11 nights. Our dues would only pay about 2 nights of that 11. Even with the cost of the membership, we still have 8 nights free. The rate and taxes on the 1200 goes up yearly but only our dues can. I see it as a break even on the dues.

Here is the history on dues at OKW over the past 10 years.
As Dianne said, some ups, some downs.

1993 2.5629
1994 2.6986 5.29%
1995 2.8393 5.21%
1996 2.9883 5.25%
1997 3.1448 5.24%
1998 3.2743 0.94%
1999 3.164 -0.32%
2000 3.1623 -0.38%
2001 3.1272 -1.16%
2002 3.22 +2.967%
2003 3.39 +5.279%

As you can see, the dues stayed pretty much stable for 5 years. The same was true at the other DVC resorts. Last year we all saw the first real increase in years due primarily to increased insurance (property and work health insurance) to DVC. They do an excellent job in containing all costs that are within their control. It will be interesting to see what happens this year. Hopefully, we will have stabilized again. There is a maximum cap of 15% on the amount that the dues can go up in one year.

Thanks so much for the answers! Its actually better than I originally thought because I was under the impression dues increased each year!! More ammunition for me to show DH!!
