I only recently started seriously considering the option of renting DVC points, so please be patient with my lack of knowledge.

If you rent points from a time share owner (from this board for instance) do you get out of the extra $25 charge that Disney Resorts charge for more than two adults in a room. My Mom and sister both live in FL, and I like for them to come visit us for a few days out of our trip. The $25 dollars extra for each person for each day really starts to add up. Do you avoid that fee by renting points?

Are the only two length of stay options Sunday-Friday or Friday-Sunday? I ask that because those are the options I typically see offered on Ebay. Do you have to break a trip up like that or can you do a Wednesday - Sunday trip for example?

Since I brought up Ebay, is it a better idea to get DVC points / reservations through Ebay or this board. I assume there are pros and cons to each one. Which way do you come out better?

I'm a little confused by the whole points issue. If I know what days I want to stay at what specific resort, where can I go to find out how many points I will need to rent?

With all that being said, is it too late to get DVC points / reservations for a trip in Late July? To be exact, Thursday, July 21 - Sunday, July 24 with my preference being BWI, then BCV, then VWL. I currently have reservations at the Swan, but I'd like to get out of the extra $25 fee for extra adults issue.

Thank you for teaming up to answer any or all of these questions! :flower:

Length of stay is not limited to Sunday through Friday or Friday through Sunday. It could be Monday through Saturday, Wednesday through Monday, etc. Points requirements are for the size of the room which limits the number of people per room. For example, a 1-bedroom will hold 4 people. The points required are the same whether it is for 1 person or 4. There is also a link a the top of this page that shows DVC point requirements.

Each room has a max of people per room, no matter if they are all adults or adults & children. No extra charges for adults in any type of room.
studio 4 people, 1 bedroom 4 people, 2 bedroom up to 8 people.

you can stay as long as you want as long as you rent enough points for your stay. You see sunday thru friday because those 5 night are the low points, weekends are about twice the points that weekdays points.
Example: depends on which season you travel, resort & room type the amount of points. value season Jan., BCV, studio, sunday-fri 12 points per night, fri & sat. 22 points per night and the whole week takes 104 points.

DVC Board to rent your points, ebay sell the ressies at a much higher rate and i believe you kinda answered your own question, the time frame that ebay sells sunday thru fri, when renting from DVC board you can actually choose when you want to go as long as it is available and which resort you would like to stay. keep in mind if you want a certain resort at a certain time, certain room type book at least 11 months out. christmas, easter, pres.day week, food & wine middle of sept. thru the middle of nov., thanksgiving and the summer june thru sept .

there really is no place to find a chart on points. i think somewhere on this site there was a point calc. i am not sure if it is still available. the best bet is to post your dates and a member will chime in and tell you how many points you will need.

that is a tough question, since you are looking to stay on the weekend, i would have to say you have a good chance to get july 22 & 23. members dont like to use there points on the weekend, the points are about twice the points for the weekend compare to weekdays. july 21 is thurs, i would say nothing is available for that date and you are checking out on sunday.

Members service is only open monday thru fri only basically 9 to 5 for a member to call, you need to tell us what type of room you would need, studio,1bedroom or 2 bedroom, then we can tell you how many points and can call members service for available.

bwv standard view, studio thurs night 11 points fri & sat 28 points per night
67 points total times $9,10,11 a point expect about $670

bwv preferred view studio, thurs 19 points fri & sat.43 points per night.

i hope that helps you :flower:

Thank you for your responses, it makes more sense to me now. From what I figure, if it is available, it would be a better deal to rent DVC points for my upcoming dates than my current reservation at the Swan. By the time you add the $25 for the extra adults in the room, plus taxes, resort fee, and parking, the Swan ends up being quite costly - even with the teacher discount.

I now have a booking protocol question. If I want a BWV standard view studio for Thurs. 7/21/05, checking out Sun. 7/24/05 that will equal 67 points according to WDWSTAR and the Tagrel calculator. So all I have to do is respond to someone posting 67 points or greater that would be valid for those dates and they (the DVC member offering the points) would call to find out if there is space available for the dates I'm requesting? Is that how it works? I guess then I'd send the payment directly to the member via PayPal or personal check?

WE have points and would be very willing to help you.

Please PM me and I will make reservation this morning. Availability may be a problem as many man;y DVc's are booked at he 7 and 11 month mark.

Please let me know what size (studio) and order of resorts that you want and we can do this in about 10 minutes Your chances of getting BW or BC are extremely limited. I could put you on a wait list but there are no guarantees. There might not ba any availability at all.

references and contract

1/2 at confirmation and 1/2 60 days out.

I sent you a pm-I don't know if it went through(I have never done this before). I am interested in renting points. Sun 8/7-Thurs.-8/11. OKW 2 studios or a 2 bedroom. Louise

I got your PM and sent you another. If you give me your phone number I will call you and we can do this over the phone Otherwise, I need to know how many nights and the names of the people on the reservation as well as your address

If yo do not mind, it is easier to do this on the phone and it will probably be nice for you to talk to the person doing this. Thanks

I am considering VWL next summer, but am wondering if they have changed the requirements for the 1Br.We are a family of 5 and I have read that you can now have 5 in a room if you use existing linen etc.I have read different things on this either way.
