We just had our offer accepted for AKV. We'll be sending the paperwork and deposit check overnight on Monday. I know that the ROFR process is a slow, painful one. Hypothetically speaking, if we pass ROFR and get out documents in next day, when are we eligible to purchase an AP with the DVC discount? Are we eligible when we pass ROFR or when closing is complete? We are leaving for F&W on 9/29, was hoping to upgrade our PHs to APs. We're not planning to use our points until 2013. Any help is appreciated! :)

Unfortunately, you probably will not be able to get your AP discount by the end of September. In order to be eligible for the discount, you must be a member and your contract must be closed and loaded into Disney's system before they will recognize you as a member.

If your offer is submitted for ROFR on Monday (August 20), they have 30 days to review it. Even if they waive ROFR within 2 weeks (don't forget the holiday in that timeframe), that leaves 3 weeks for buyer/seller to get all their paperwork submitted, the closing completed and the contract loaded into the DVC system. I don't see it happening by the 29th, sorry. Of course, if you weren't in a hurry and had no plans forthcoming, the process would probably be completed in record time:sad2:.

Anything is possible...but I really wouldn't hold my breath. Good Luck!

In order to get the DVC AP discount, you need to show a photo ID AND your DVC membership card. These cards typically take a few weeks after you have closed to arrive. I'm sorry to say that given the amount of time that resales are taking, I wouldn't get my hopes up. I don't see a way that you'll be able to close and receive your membership cards in time.

Thanks for your fast responses. I kind of figured that, but was kind of hoping for a miracle. :)

You might get lucky even though the odds are not in your favor.

Assuming you pass ROFR & you and the seller both send in your paperwork immediately afterward, there is a chance. Ask your broker if there is an expedited closing process (expect to pay a bit extra for that) and also ask if it will matter enough to get you closed in time. Allow a week for Disney to get you into the system.

Check each day while you are at WDW to see if you have closed and/or are in the system. If yes, you can go over to the DVC Preview Center at SSR and get a membership card. Then you can do the upgrade as long as you do it within 14 days of the first use of the MYW ticket (but no later than the last day you use the ticket if that comes before 14 days).

Good luck!
