wife and I are in the early stage of buying. Definatley doing it, just not sure where yet..Question, is it possible to exchange points to stay in , for example, the Contemporary, or the Poloniesian? by no way is it a deal breaker for us, just curious.

You can do it, but there is no guarantee that you will always be able to do it and that the number of points required for the reservation will not increase each year. These stays are negotiated by DVC. A change for 2008 will require a transfer fee of $95 to DVC to book any of these non-DVC stays in addition to the points. You can get a lot more nights in a DVC villa vs a Deluxe hotel room.

Yes, but you won't get the value for your points that you do in a DVC resort. In addition, beginning 1/1/08 there is a $95 fee for booking into a non-DVC resort at WDW, so it is even worse of a deal.

Also, the easily overlooked change to "Member Getaways" booking will affect your ability to use points at those resorts. We can no longer book Member Getaways during the last four months of our UY, so 1/3 of the year, you won't have that option at all.
