Newbie question: What are the monthly challenges and SWAPS?

Still learning all about scrapbooking. What are the monthly challenges and SWAPS that are posted here?

I don't participate in the Challanges so I'll leave that one to someone else

but the Swaps are where a topic is chosen say Cruise, its opened for signups and everyone chooses 1-2 elements (say Borders or Shaker Box) to make in bulk (usually 22-24) with a specific theme (say Goofy) they then mail them to the host who collects all the different peoples elements then mails back to you a huge variety of different fun things to use in your books. I love the swaps here- and I guarentee they are addicting...

We don't have any open swaps currently but about the first week/end in May (depending on how quick the Character swap wraps up and what my travel plans are) we will be starting a WDW Ride Swap where the theme to do will be the different attractions- There will be a 1 week and a 3 day warning before signups begin and it will be *hopefully* easier to join as there will be 48 slots open instead of the traditional 24- and we'd love to have you/all the new to the scrap board kids join so be on the lookout for it

If you want to know more about signups/elements/themes etc I would suggest looking at some of the recent topics like the Cruise, Characters and Everything Else Swaps to get an idea of how it flows.

The challenges here are held monthly. Each month, you just post how many scrapbook pages you have completed that particular month. It doesn't matter what size scrapbooks you do, just as long as there is journaling on your pages. Whoever completes the most pages for that month wins and collects a prize from the host of the challenge (last month's winner). The winner then hosts the following month's challenge.

Even if you aren't someone who completes tons of pages in a month, it is still fun to check in with your totals. It also gives you a goal to work towards!

Well, as far as the scrapping challenge goes, you only have to have journaling on pages where you intend to journal. In other words, you don't have to journal just to be included in the challenge.... I tend to do theme books and don't journal on every page. As long as the page is COMPLETE, then you can count it for the challenge............P
