newbie question-swapping points???

Hi All

We bought DVC 2 weeks ago, while onboard the magic. We hadn't really planned to. We would like to go to california next year but we own at AKV. From what I've read it will be fairly hard to get GCV at 7 months.
We spoke to our guide tonight and he suggested we swap our points with someone that owns at GCV. How do we do that? We don't have any idea! I realise we should have asked at the time.

Sorry, I have no idea how swopping works - but just to let you know we managed to book 10 days at California, about 5 months in advance. I hope you get your reservation x

The guide probably meant that you should make a reservation for someone at AKV and that they make a reservation for you at VGC. It's hard to find people who want to do that.

Or you could get someone to transfer VGC points to you and then in a subsequent use year, you could transfer AKV points to them. Again, kind of hard to find someone to do that.

You didn't ask, but it sounds like you weren't really ready to buy. If you are still within your allowed cancellation period, that's what I would recommend. Then you can do more research to see if DVC really fits for your family.
