Newbie question - Point transfers

We just joined DVC recently and will be going on our first trip home in 7/08. We will be traveling with some friends and would like to obtain some points to trasnsfer into our account for them. There seem to be a lot of posts on point rentals, are there any similar threads for point transfers? Do you have any advice on point transfers or things we should be aware of before doing a transfer?Thanks.

Rent/Trade Board has all rentals - whether for a non-member or a member.

Remember that you can only make one transfer in or out (not in AND out) each use year. So make sure you get enough points transferred in from one person. Points transferred in are supposed to retain their use year and home resort. If you see some messages for rentals, you can always ask if the member would consider transferring points to you.

You could always ask your friends to make their own vacation rental it that would be easier.

I agree with Deb & Bill. It would be far easier for your friends to make their own arrangements.

For example, if you pay for a point transfer into your account, and then your friends cannot go, you may be stuck with points that you cannot use.

I would have them either make their own ressies through CRO or have them check the Rent/Trade board for obtaining a reservation.

If you decide to try to have points transferred to you, there are similar threads for point transfers on the Rent/Trade board. Look for posts with "Points for Transfer" or "Points for Rent/Transfer" in the title. You could also post your own "Point Transfer Wanted" thread on the Rent/Trade board, spelling out how many points you need and whether you need points from a particular resort (which you will if you want to book in the 11-month window).
