Hi all,

I haven't been to DW since I was 6 so I'm just wondering: what's the best strategy for brining stuff into the parks (i.e. maps, touring plans, ponchos, cameras, etc.). If I bring a school bag am I able to leave it on the side when I go on a roller coaster (i.e. splash mountain), and will it actually be safe? If not, what's the best approach?

I know this might seem like a foolish worry, but I've been meticulously planning my trip for 3 months now and am just now thinking of all of the last minute details.

Thanks a bunch!

In this day and age you certainly shouldn't leave your bag unattended. Someone stealing your bag would be the least of your problems :sad2:
You can take your bag on the rides with you-I usually put it on the floor of the carriage and stick my foot through the strap to stop it flying off (I don't ride RnRC, but I wouldn't recommend this method for that ride :upsidedow :rotfl2: ) On Splash Mountain I cover my bag with my poncho-to all those who laughed at me on the poncho thread na na na na na :p
If you don't want to carry a bag on the rides you'll either need to use a locker when you get in the parks, or downsize and carry everything in a fanny pack (Or bum bag as we Brits call them). I'd recommend carrying the bare minimum-believe me after 7 or 8 hours in the park, a small bag will feel like a suitcase! If you're staying on site don't forget you can have your purchases shipped back to the hotel. Offsite you can arrange to pick them up at the park gates when you leave.

We carry a backpack if we are with our grandsons and bring things for them. We just leave it in the stroller and no one has ever bothered it. (Nothing of value is ever left) If it's just DH and myself, we carry the camera in our pocket. I never carry a purse, just a wallet with my room key. By not carrying anything in you can avoid the bag check entrance at the beginning of the parks too! No time wasted standing in line waiting for security to check your bag... :thumbsup2

My backpack/fanny pack/messenger bag, whichever I use for that particular trip, goes with me on all rides. If it's a backpack, then I just loop it over my leg when I'm seated. Yes, it has gotten wet, but there is nothing in it that can't get wet. I wrap my camera in a facecloth and put it in a zip-loc baggie in my pack.
