Newbie question about reservation windows..

I recently bought at AKV and on our next trip, we would like to stay for a week at AKV, travel elsewhere for a week and then return to WDW for a few days before flying home. For these last few days, I'm happy to continue staying at AKV but my children thought it would be nice to experience one of the other DVC properties

Obviously, I can make reservations for AKV 11 months out so my question is, I am better to reserve at AKV for all the nights that I will be in WDW and then change the reservation for the last few nights at the 7 month window if I'm lucky enough to get in elsewhere or even waitlist?
Will MS let me do this?
Also from your own experience, reserving at 7 months, what's the chances of getting a 1 bedroom in BCV, BWV or VWL for a few mid week nights in July?

You certainly can try to change at the 7 month mark, and I think your plan is a good one. Make your reservations ASAP (you are already beyond the 11 month mark), and then when the 7 month window opens up, change the part you wish to change. Take what you can get, and you will probably be very happy! Just don't plan too heavily on getting any one specific other DVC resort for the change.
