Newbie Question About Future Bookings Use Year

Here goes: I will have some Dec current use year points available but may be used to fulfill a waitlist for July at Aulani. If I'm going to book a reservation for Feb 2019, if I have current use year points available, do I have to bank them before I can use them for the Feb 2019 reservation so it won't pull from my Dec 18 points?

Yes, they must be banked into your Dec 2018 UY before you can use them to book a Feb 2019 trip. If you did not indicate that you will allow DVC to borrow points to fill your waitlist for the July 2018 Aulani trip, then it will not be filled if there are no Dec 2017 points available to use for the booking.

What you could do, if you have enough Dec 2018 points to cover the Feb trip, would be to book it with those points. You still have until July 31, 2018 to bank those Dec. 2017 points. If Aulani never pans out, then bank the 2017 points into 2018 and then call/email Member Services to have the points for the Feb. trip reallocated so that the banked points get used first.
