hi all i am new to the swap boards -- but i have hosted hundreds of swaps through close to my heart. im going to disney at the end of nov. i want to host a 12x12 page swap -- to scrap your trip. heres my ideas....

rules: either single or double 12x12 layout (depending on what others want)
due mid december
most make photo mats -- in order to just add photos after swap
must be good quilty pages with embellshments and professional looking

i thought we could all pick themes (maybe 8 - 10 particpants) i will be host and a particpant -- here are my ideas on themes......

1. general mickey/minnie page:
2. animal kingdom:
3. epcot:
4. mgm:
5. magic kingdom
6. maybe a food page?
7. ?
8. ?
9. ?
10.?

post if your interested -- im wanting to fill up quick and have a fast turnaround -- like i said maybe a due date for mid dec
the way i have hosted swaps is send in a priority flat rate box with return label and postage for return swap -- u send your pages to me -- i swap out and return -- im very realible and a very fast host!!! im very excited to find this board - please post ASAP if interested! thanks!

sorry if i didn't explain well enough how this works -- lol - im so used to posting these i guess i forget everyone may not know the detalils!!!

heres how it works -- u sign up and pick a theme and i will add u to the list -- and repost until we have all 10 spots filled up -- then u make 10 identical pages 12x12 size on the theme that u have picked -- u then send all 10 of your pages to me -- i swap them out and u get back 10 12x12 pages (one of your own included) if u have anymore questions let me know -- i know it sounds complicated but its not hard to make 10 identical 12x12 pages!! and then u almost have a completed book!!! let me know if interested or have questions.

I'm not sure this a good time to be starting a new swap.
We have a calendar that we follow so that nobody gets overwhelmed.

You may want to run your ideas past our keeper of the calendar to see when a better time for this would be.

sorry i didn't know there was a calender or anything -- so i guess if no one wants to do it -- its ok -- ill just wait till jan and join some swaps

also someone mentioned that people don't like newbies to host -- which i didn't know -- so sorry -- i would rather not host because its alot of work -- so i guess ill just wait and try and get involved in other peoples swaps -- i just think its nice to do complete pages!

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings, just wanted you to know about the calendar.

And it's really hard to trust someone you have never even had a conversation with before after the fiasco of a newbie swaphostess going AWOL. A lot of people were burned badly. Time, money, engery invested to have nothing to show for it.

So, join a few swaps. Let everyone get to know you. Ask to have your swap sign ups put on the calendar after a few you have joined end. This way everyone will see that you are someone they can trust with their creations.

Nice idea, when I was part of a SU group we made pages monthly. But they had to be only SU products; paper, ink, stamps, embellishments. So that we could make a second page to accompany the first page with no hassels. They were fun.

Hey there Laura, sorry it too me so long to respond. Parent/ teacher conferences were tonight.

Anywho, a little background, we had kind of a rough go earlier this year. We had a huge ABC swap that was a persons first hosting job and most everyone did not receive their items. A few girls did get some things but the sets were not complete. She has since disappeared into the internet void and I'm afraid it has soured a lot of people on swaps. It's nothing personal towards you or anything but everyone is a bit gun shy. Also since the holidays are fast approaching we tend to slow down a bit. The scrap board goes into slow motion about this time since we are busy doing other crafts for gifts and such.

We started the calendar because a few years ago we had some people sign up for tons of things and then became overwhelmed and bailed out mid swaps. The calendar helped for someone like myself, who has very little free time, to look down the road and say, hey I really need MK stuff and I know there is one coming up soon so I shouldn't over book other swaps. The kits are more labor intensive, as I'm sure you know, so I knew not to take on too much before hand.

If you have any ideas or suggestions feel free to add it to the calendar. I will be making a new 2008 calendar this weekend and it should be stickied to the top here. I don't want to come off sounding like a swap nazi or something, you don't have to get my permission to host a swap or do sign ups. I'm by no means a dictator, this system just seems to work for us. Most of us are busy with spouses, kids, jobs, etc, so the calendar works with planning.

Your idea sounds really neat. We have a similar idea here, basically what we do for complete pages is kits. 2 mats and 2 additional elements. The only thing we don't supply is the 12 x12 paper because some of the girls don't scrap 12 x12.

So shoot me your ideas, either in the current Swap calendar or in a PM. We are all game for new things and ideas! In the mean time read over the other stickies, the rules, the swapping FAQ's, the glossary, and the pics of previous swaps, and browse over some of the ongoing swaps to see how we do things. And let us get to know you. Everyone is super friendly and we love having new people to chat with!

Oh and :welcome:
