I haven't been to Disney for probably 20 or so years...in-laws bought the entire family a trip to Disney for the 3rd week in January of 2015...I have been given to the duty of making the itinerary and was directed to this site by friends...I have no idea where to begin...but I love doing this type of thing...there is a lot of useful info on this site, I just don't know where to begin...any tips, recommendations, etc would be greatly appreciated...ages of children going will be 6, 6, 4, 3, and 2 plus 8 adults...it's very overwhelming right now skimming through everything...

First of all, welcome! This is of course the perfect place to come for help. You might want to move this to a planning thread; You could probably get more replies.

When planning for a large group you should try and avoid the thinking that everyone will be together for everything.

Lets try to focus some help:

1. Where will everyone be staying?

2. How many days will you be visiting?

3. Will you be using a dining plan?

You'll find all kinds of great ideas on these boards. but I think kbonner makes a very valid point. It will likely get very frustrating and overwhelming trying to keep all of those people together in the parks. I know it looks like it's easy on the commercials, but it's difficult due to the crowds, distractions, variable endurance levels, different bladders and independant hunger patterns. Consider breaking up into smaller groups for the parks, then meeting together as a group for meals and resort time. :3dglasses

I am new here too and will be watching this thread because I am overwhelmed and don't know where to start either!

Welcome! You've come to a great place for help! :thumbsup2

kbonner has great starting points to narrow down the focus so that you can start planning. It can get definitely get overwhelming with so much information out there.

Welcome!! :dance3: The Pre-Trip Report forum might be a good place to start!

You'll need to start with a resort and a timeline...when are you planning to go? Who is going?

Have you decided on a resort?

OP, are you all thinking of getting rooms in the same resort? If so, which price range are you thinking? If not, are you thinking of renting one house or condo off site?
