Hi my name is Dani and this is my first post here but I thought this would be the best place to post my questions....

So my hubby (32), DGF Katie (32), DS (9) and myself(30) are looking at going to the World/Univ/Is of A. Sept 16/17-25/26 (not set on dates yet LOL) but are trying to decide the best place to stay for the 4 of us. We aren't DVC members but are open to the possibly of renting points or staying in any of the hotels (value to moderate since we are look at going down for 10 days) What do you guys suggest? This is DGF's first visit to the World (or anything really like it) and we want her to get to really experience the world but at the same time with DS we want to make sure he enjoys it as well as we get a room that will fit us. Thanks

Hi and Welcome!

What about POR? They have rooms with a trundle bed. Depending on how big your son is, he could use the trundle while you and your DH have one bed and your GF the other.

Or...perhaps one of the Downtown Disney hotels. The DoubleTree has suites that would offer a bit more space while still being on Disney property.

Rosiep,
I was wondering about POR we have never stayed there so wasn't sure how the rooms were. Our son is tall 4'9 but is stick thin so might be able to use the T.B. Have you stayed there? Is it somewhat Kid friendly and have a lot or few kids? I realized I didn't mention the fact that our son has Aspergers Syndrome so while he is super book smart (is doing school work at an 10 grade level in 3rd grade) his social skills are lacking which is another reason we take him to WDW great social interacting for him and when things get to hard for him to handle we use his GAP card to help him out. Pop Century (where we stayed in Aug) was very hard on him as there was just too much going on with the tons and tons of kids running around and such. I know sounds crazy but that is our life :) Thanks

I'm sorry, I haven't stayed at POR. But I have stayed at CSR and CBR. I think that the Moderates are quieter in general as they're not as compact as the Values. CSR in particular is very serene during the day, though at night the conventioners can get loud depending on the group. CSR rooms have queen beds so if you're GF didn't mind sharing a bed with your son that might work. But I'm not sure I would call this hotel "kid" friendly.

What about the cabins at Ft. Wilderness???

We know friends who's stayed and the trundle is bigger than you'd think! It's a great fit for you guys. Nice resort, AND you can do the romantic carriage ride!

Welcome!

Chris

I agree with Rosie (:scared1:) - POR is wonderful. The resort is spread out enough so you'll never feel crowded. There is a themed pool in the middle and various quiet pools. And you can also walk over to French Quarter to use the pool there. It will have a nice mix for your son - great theming, fun pools & slides but if it becomes to overwhelming for him you can easily find a quiet spot to relax.

There is a baby dolphin pool near the main entrance where you can place your hand on the water and hope a dophin swims over it (The Dolphins love it)...however if you really want the dolphin experience and want to stay in the Orlando area...Discovery Cove by far. You can SWIM with them...a bit overpriced but if you get the combo tickets to seaworld, Aquatica and Bush Gardens (if you have the time) it might be worthwhile.
