I currently live in Pensacola Florida and My wife and I are planning a trip in October for the world with our 2 boys. We are wanting to stay for about 9-10 days(October 23rd-November 1st). Would there be a down side to buying seasonal passes at the Florida rate as opposed to the regular tickets. We were wanting to add the dining plan so our entire trip can be paid for in advance (except for tips, gas and supplies etc...). Is the dining plan locked in with the magic your way tickets?

We figured that with the seasonal passes we could pop down for a weekend trip again before they expired.

I don't really know anything about the dinning plans, but if you are staying for a few weeks and plan on going to the park most of that time the passes won't be that bad of an idea. You can get into different parks on the same day plus discounts at different places (mainly DTD though). They do have FL resident passes, which is what we have, you have black out dates, but the tickets are a lot less. The black out dates are durnin high volume times, Spring Break, Christmas/Thanksgiving. You also have blackout for a few months durning the summer, like right now, but going to Disney in the middle of July isn't the most fun thing in the world. Plus with the passes you go on the weekends for a day or two.
I would compare prices and see if it is cheaper to get the passes or just tickets for your big vacation. Either way I hope you and your family have loaded of fun when you go.

The dining plan is only available if you book a package--on site resort room and MYW tickets. You can just get the MYW tickets for whatever the minimum is (I think 1 day) and save them for later and use your Resident passes for park entry.

I am not familiar with the Florida passes but I do know they have lots of blackout dates so make sure you check into that.

March 15 - March 28, 2008 (spring break? no way in Hades)
* June 7, 2008 - August 14, 2008 (Did someone say Hades? oh that was me. Too hot and nasty for me.)
* December 21, 2008 - January 3, 2009 Christmas would be neat but work will not let me take off for Christmas or New Years anyway)

The blackout dates are not that bad overall. Those times are when kids are out of school anyway so better to avoid that time.

I'll have to try...

thanks lovetoscrap

That sounds like a good plan. Just remember that the dining plan is good for the length of your resort stay, not the days of tickets you buy so that is why that works. Everyone in the room has to buy the same thing so you would have a 1 day tix for everyone in your family to use later. And the tickets are non transferrable, but if you haven't used them you can let someone else use it--like if a friend or Grandma or someone wanted to join you.
