Hi all,
i wonder if anyone can give me thier thoughts. I am in process of buying points through timeshare store, who have been great by the way, just waiting on Disney ROFR, which ends today i believe.

Anyway as we are coming from UK and we are coming in October 2011 childrens half term, i need to book flights now. However i am trying to ascertain the likihood of getting the following

1 week for a 2 bed villa BWV - standard view followed by
1 week for a 1 bed villa BWV - standard view
ideally the same room for the two weeks just locking off the studio.

We do not get the points until 23rd Jan, so will be able to book in first week of feb, which is i believe about 8 months before we go, so not open to all point holders.

I have no feeling for how quickly points go from 11 month to 7 month period.

Secondly, how does the 11 and 7 month window work, is it from date of arrival of dating of departing?

Thanks for all help in advance

Giles

While you may be able to get a preferred view, getting a standard view during October is extremely hard. With F&W during October the standard rooms go quickly. I believe standard view rooms are only 20% of this resort. I'm a BWV owner and got up this morning to call and making my Oct. 15th reservation today at the 11 month window and I'm nervous I won't get the standard room. You need to recalculate to make sure you have enough points for the preferred view accommodations so that you have a back up plan. Keep in mind that both of your reservations need to be at the same view in order to have the possibility that you can stay in the same unit. You can certainly waitlist for the standard, but remember if your waitlist comes through for one and not the other, then you will have to move mid-trip. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this. So you reckon i should be ok for preferred view but not for the standard room if i am booking say first week in Feb. Since we coming from UK we are happy to have a preferred view.

Out of interest do you know when you are able to use your points to books rooms in actual hotels rather than the DVC?

Good luck with your reservation.

Soooo...let us know how you do?? I have to call tomorrow for my Oct 16-23 stay...need two studios, preferrably one standard, on boardwalk view.

We surely do seem to vacation on the same timeframes don't we?

I'll be calling daily after today since my stay is 13 nights, so have to add that extra night each day after the initial 7 night booking. I will again be calling at the 7 month window to hopefully snag a preferred studio for my daughter and family for the second week of that stay (using non-home points).

OP, since perferred makes up 60% of this resort, your chances are good at the 7 month window, but you need to be on the phone first thing on openning day.

I think you should be fine calling at 11 months to get the standard view...last year I needed 2 SV studios in Oct and got both calling at exactly 11 months

Got it! Of course I had that moment of dread when the CM said...."Oh no, let me put you on hold!" Then she came back and all was well. So now the daily calling starts tomorrow. Good luck tomorrow!

Oh dear God...I hate the 'let me put you on hold' comment. Well...here's hoping I get what I need tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!! We'll have to plan to say hi while we're there!!!

So am i right in saying if you want two weeks, you need to ring daily to add to your room?

Not going to be an issue for us, as i will not be able to book until week of 23rd Jan, so i am hoping i will be ok to get want i need or else it will be a 7 month window for other resorts.

Bought our flights already!

Thanks

Actually if you were calling at the start of the 11 month or 7 month window you would be allowed to book your first 7 nights with the one call. Since that is the limit, you have to call back to add additional nights. Since we are staying 14 nights, I will be calling daily to keep adding nights to my original 7 night reservation. Yes you call 11 or 7 months from the first day of your reservation. Since we are arriving on Oct. 15th, today Nov. 15th was my 11 month window. The window will have been openned when you call, so you will be able to book your entire trip with the one call.

Well, I know what we'll both be doing at 9:00 this morning!

I was thinking the same thing!!!

Done -- added one more day and it took 3 minutes. Tomorrow they are down for another maintenance upgrade, so not sure when I'll catch them to add another day.

Got my two standard studios for my week as well...yay for us!!!

Yea....at least you're done. I've got 6 more mornings to call! Generally this is the only time I am this anal -- I want standard for the longer stay + F&W = limited availability. Other times I just call and say, what do you have and I have a list of options to choose from. Now you only have to wait a month and then start your ADRs...!
