Newbie and excited!

Hi everyone!

I'm Linda and I'm excited to be here!

I was a member of the boards back in 2000 when I was busy planning my family's first WDW trip. We had a FABULOUS time back then - due mostly to all the great info I got here from my billions of questions. I never forgot all the wonderful people here.

After such a wonderful trip to the World in 2002, we were planning to return often, but, unfortunately, my sweet husband became ill with a brain tumor soon after and passed away a couple of years later in 2005. I was so happy that we took that wonderful trip and made so many wonderful memories!

My two children (adult now) and I are now planning a 2017 trip back. We all had such a good time , especially their dad, that we can't wait to return with wonderful memories while making new ones.

I'm planning a trip for two weeks between May 13-27, 2017! My kids and I will be staying off-site for the first week in Emerald Island. Their boyfriend/girlfriend will be joining us so there will be five adults. I've already booked the house. I've decided to stay for an additional week and stay on-site. I'm hoping that my daughter can stay some of the time with me, but she is a new nurse so we will see if she can swing it.

I'm happy to be here! I will have many questions- please bear with me. Hoping to book with dreamsunlimited for the second week since they were so helpful and got me so many discounts during my first trip. So here's my first question- I'm tryng to get a quote from them but their booking site has been saying that they can't quote right now because Disney's travel agent site is down. Anyone know what's happening?

Again- I'm excited to learn from so many Disney veterans. I've always been a Disney lover even though life has kept me away!

Likely just a problem with Disney's website that happens from time to time. Try again later. Have a fun trip. I've done several days solo at Disney World. So, if your daughter can't join you for your second week, you will still enjoy your Disney vacation.

Welcome home! I am sorry to hear about your husband. How exiting to honour his wonderful memory and return next year.

I have heard Emerald Island is a fine resort.

I would think it is just a glitch in the matrix with DU and try again later I find them very good and helpful. What onsite resort were you thinking? So many exiting ones to choose from! What time of year are you going?

We are going in May of 2017. We had planned a family trip at the tenth anniversary of my husband's death, but my daughter has been in nursing school, so we decided to postpone.

Since I may be by myself the second week, I'm leaning towards Port Orleans or one of the values, depending on prices etc. I'm paying for the first week mostly, so I have to watch my budget. I'm also considering Swan/dolphin because I work in education, so with the help of dreams, I will explore the discounts. I'm probably investing in an annual pass because I'm going to plan some more trips this year so I have that discount to work with as well! Lots to decide before then but the planning is fun too!

You can't go wrong with POR... The boat to Disney Springs and the beautiful Mansions and landscaping are wonderful. Swan and Dolphin is another excellent choice with the waterfall pool and the walk or boat ride to Epcot. Have an excellent time!
