We are visiting Universal for the first time at the end of the month and I’m looking for clarification on the rides that require you to empty your pockets or don’t allow bags/backpacks. So how does it work? Does empty pockets mean no phone, wallet, nothing like TSA?

And we will have a stroller with us. At Disney we usually get our park bag in bottom of stroller so that would be fine for us to do, would that be the best option. I’ve heard if you avoid bags and the in line lockers you can save some time. What is the Dis recommendation on these questions? Thanks and Happy Newish Year.

Anything you are comfortable leaving in the stroller can be left in it.

There are only 3 rides that have metal detectors: Rip Ride Rocket, Hulk, and Velocicoaster. For those, they legit mean nothing in pockets, even change. All the other locker rides allow you to carry on anything that reasonably fits in your pockets, or in a fanny pack. So for those you can have your phone and anything else.

I usually go "pockets only" so I don't have to use the lockers so much, but they really aren't that big a deal.

Didn't start going until we were past stroller stage but I would leave nothing of any kind of value in my stroller. And note that the free lockers at rides are not big enough for standard backpacks. They are only about 6" high so your backpack needs to be very flat. Or you can rent bigger lockers. Last couple trips I switched to small crossbody bags so they fit.

If you are planning to use the Child Swap rooms you can ask if you can bring bag with you and it stays with the child/adult.

I use the small crossbody bags in the parks that I use in my regular everyday life and I have never had a problem fitting the bag into the locker. As long as it isn't a giant diaperbag/backpack, you will probably be fine. I have had to use the lockers and it is not a big deal. I did not feel like it was a significant wait and that I was missing out on park time because I had to put my stuff into a locker and then take it out after the ride.

I often do Universal with a stroller & utilizing child swap. If you're comfortable leaving things in the stroller (and it sounds like you are), that is 100% the way to go. The lockers aren't a huge deal, but they can be a bit crowded and eat up a minute or two. Since you have to park the stroller, why not consolidate?

If the line is really, really long and you're doing childswap, you can bring a bag in with you, but the parent staying behind will have to carry it along with their own.

If you do have to do lockers, purchase one of the lanyards you can put your roomkey/ticket in. You need those to open the lockers back up, and lanyards are allowed on all the rides (although you will be instructed to stuff it in your shirt).
