New York, South Carolina, Bermuda, Galveston

I would love to see DCL sail out of New York (or anywhere I wouldn't have to fly, thus reallocating those funds to the onboard charges department, lol), especially to Bermuda. New York is just 2 hours from us and I could work in a visit to see my folks!

Overall, I really don't mind where we sail from but I really would like to see more diverse itineraries; how many times could I stand to go to Nassau? I cruise because it makes my family happy and I do enjoy it, but I'm more of an educational type of traveler who likes to see new places. That would make me even happier.

We loved Galveston. We went there while outrunning Hurricane Francis in 2004! The town was so happy to see us and gave us a HUGE welcome. My DH went to the museum and toured the historic ship in harbor (sorry, can't remember the name). My daughter and I walked around the town -- very cute shops and restaurants. Plus, when leaving the port, we were escorted out by HUNDREDS of dolphins -- babys, adults.....I've never seen so many dolphins. It was quite thrilling.

The historic ship is Elissa. :) And I would be thrilled beyond belief if Disney started cruising out of Galveston.

Thank you. I know my husband loved the exhibit!

I don't see any reason why Disney can't sail out of either NYC or the new port in Bayonne, NJ. We have three cruise lines sailing out of there now. I am frustrated, however, that the size of the new ships limits them from going back to Key West or through the canal right now! :sad2:

To add another view - I just completed the survey and we did say yes to the NY cruises - not because of Bermuda but because it is closer to fly to for us in Toronto AND so many days at sea!

My DH and I cruise DCL because we love the ships/design, the crew/castmembers, food/service and entertainment on board! If we wanted to go to the carribean just to see the islands we could go cheaper on any other line with more variety of ports.

We go on DCL for the ship experience - a 7 night with only 2 ports - Bermuda and Castaway Cay would be amazing!

I agree with you. Would love to cruise to Bermuda on DCL with more days at sea. I pay for a cruise and love to spend time on the ship rather than alot of days in port.

For all of you hoping for Bermuda, that is not a cheap cruise. :headache: It's also not necessarily a 7 nt cruise. We sailed RC Explorer of the Seas out of Bayonne to Bermuda for 5 nts. in June 09. It was over $4k for 4 of us in a tiny inside room, 160 sf fo. Since the kids were almost as much as the adults, for $300 more we got 2 connecting inside rooms. Our 1st and last experience with tiny inside rooms! :headache:

This cruise was over $1k more than what we paid for our 7 nt double dip cruise on the Magic over Thanksgiving 08 in a cat. 9, just 7 mos. prior.

We were only doing it for a dear friend's special bday celebration and this was the cruise he chose. For sure, it would have been cheaper to fly to FL and sail DCL.

If you think 160 sq. ft. is small for an inside cabin, then don't book one on the Dream/Fantasy @ 169 sq. ft.

Yes, Bermuda cruises are expensive. If DCL went there, I'm sure theirs would be pricey as well.

Oh yes, I saw that right away. The first thing I check out is the size. :lmao:

We're booked in an 8D on the Dream and Fantasy, 241 sf. plus a seat inside the porthole. :lovestruc I'm afraid we might be too spoiled with all that space to go back on the Magic. :guilty:

We've sailed out of Bayonne on the Explorer for 12 days for less than $2,000. I'm looking at 5 day Bermuda cruise on Explorer for $549. It will get cheaper as you get closer to the date. You should cruise on Enchantment, there inside cabins are like 140sqft. Shame DCL has made there lower cats so much smaller, we also had to book 8d as Daughter has two small kids. So a double hit for us. The cost of cruising went from 1,000 points to over 2,000 a huge jump, shame on them!!!!

I guess they figure if people are willing to pay so much for private cabana's then we can charge more for the cruise. Be interesting to see if they can fill the new ships at these prices.

I would love to see DCL cruise out of Charleston, SC. Only a 5 hour drive from my house..... :cool1::cool1:

The only problem with waiting is that there isn't always rooms for 4 avaialble. I have sailed on RCCL and always keep an eye on the prices and since we have to sail when school is out we can never get a lower price on a quad room as they are always sold out. Plenty of discounts for doubles most of the time

I would love to see special 10 day cruises out of Canaveral! They can fit a 3rd ship in there every couple of weeks or so.

The itineraries they supplied in the survey were boring.

That's what we're hoping for in 2012 for the Magic also! The more distant southern Caribbean stops would be ideal, either in the summer or over Christmas. But NYC would be cool too, as airfare there isn't too bad, as long as it is in the summer. I wouldn't even consider going out of there in the winter. BRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

Would love to do a repositioning cruise, Port Canaveral->Bermuda-> New York with perhaps a few other east coast stops along the way.

I am hoping for this exact cruise the week of 31 March 2012 when the current magic schedule stops! That is Spring Break week for us and it would be fabulous!!

Any additional rumors on when the 2012 dates will be released? Last I heard it might be APRIL?!

I'd like to know this too. I'm curious to see what fall prices are like.
We're booked on the Fantasy for 8/25 but it's higher than our TG08 cruise and this is still in peak hurricane season. :sad2:

This post is funny since I just heard a rumor today that Baltimore is looking to get the Disney cruise line to leave from their port. I don't think this will happen and quite frankly eventhough I am only 45 minutes from the port I wouldn't want to sail out of Baltimore or NY. That is a long bumpy trip to Bermuda. Way more seasick up here in the north. Just lots of water and nothing beautiful to look at. I mean have you ever swam in the waters off NY or NJ or even Md? The waters off Florida and down are beautiful! I love Disney but am happy to fly to FL to go on their ships!

Wouldn't mind more iteneraries or at least a change up so say a Western has different stops not always the same one.

On another note we rebooked on board last week and asked about the bookings in later 2012. The Disney lady wasn't very hopeful about them being released soon. We asked about Alaska in 2012 and she gave us the impression that it wasn;t looking good. She kinda said they have to see how this summer goes. She definitely didn't look hopeful.

Do you mean Bermuda or the Caribbean? Baltimore is further south and a bit closer to Bermuda than a NY/NJ port - where most ships depart for Bermuda.

Interesting comment about Alaska in 2012. With the current situation in Mexico, I would expect future cruises there to be in more peril than cruises to Alaska.

We live in NY and we have sailed out of a NYC a few times. Most recently to Bermuda this past May on the Norwegian Dream. We did not find the trip any more rough than our cruises out of Florida. In 2005 we took a Carnival cruise out of NYC to the Caribbean and also did not find that cruise any more rough. I do agree it CAN be rougher but last week on the Magic we had a pretty rough cruise on the return to PC so I can't agree with a blanket statement that cruises out of NYC are always rougher than cruises out of Florida.

There really is something special about sailing down the Hudson River out of NYC and passing the Statue of Liberty...a very moving sight!!!
