Has anybody stayed at the two hotels that we can us with our points? We are planning a trip to New York this spring.

I have stayed at the Regency but not on points. It is a world class hotel located on Park Avenue. It is a little bit of a walk or a short cab ride to the theater district or to Times Square. It has great shopping in the area and is very upscale. It is the "power breakfast place to be" in NYC. On any given morning you will see celebrities and politicians meeting for breakfast in the Regency dining room. I can't say enough good things about this hotel, but I wouldn't pay the points that they want for it either. I would much rather pay cash.

I have stayed at the Shelburne Murray Hill. It wasnt on points though. (Not sure if this is even still an option on points) We actually stayed there because I figured if it was and option for DVC, it had to be nice. It was very nice. We were first given a smoking room and really did attempt to stay in that room without saying anything. When we realized we could not, we called to the front desk (approximately one hour from check in) and were immediately moved. They offered to move our luggage and everything. They probably would have moved us immediately if we had realized that is was a smoking room on check in.

When I go to NYC, I want to feel safe and I want to be near things. I felt very safe the entire time we were there. My mother and I walked to Times Square and most other midtown offerings. We did take a cab to the Wall Street district and up to Central Park once. We did not eat at the hotel but the front desk did a great job of recommending restaurants. This was only for a weekend trip. I was pleased with the resort but did get a good deal on cash and it would not have been a wise use of points. Hope this helps
