Anyone have good ideas for what to do on New Year's Eve? We will be there with our two girls, ages 7 and 11 and want to spend the evening with them....

Either OKW or BW...not sure at this point. Do you know if anything is happening at either resort?

Last year at the BWV they handed out party hats and noisemakers. (They should have handed out umbrellas though). Nothing special was going on at the resort but lots in the parks. This year we are at the BCV but will be having dinner on the Boardwalk on NYE.

Do you have reservations at both already? If not, it may be difficult to get a NYE reservation for this year.

That said, the resorts themselves don't usually do too much. The action is centered at the parks and the special ticket events. Sometimes OKW offers a special babysitting party/event but I'm not sure whether that's offered every year (probably depends on how much demand they've had). The parks are very crowded but it's a real fun atmosphere. MGM or MK might be better choices for a young family since Epcot tends to be a big party in World Showcase but I'm sure you'd have fun at any of them. The midnight fireworks at all the parks are amazing.

Pam, we're booked at OKW 12/26 - 1/4 and are waitlisted for BW ...they have all BW nights for us except 12/31 and 1/1. I'd actually prefer to keep the whole thing at OKW but hubby wants to wait out until the 31 day mark to see if we get the remaining 2 nights and move over to BW. I know it's confusing! So, at this point we may be splitting OKW/BW to make everyone happy!

I thought maybe you were piecing together a trip. Been there -- done that!

One suggestion would be to be sure and use WDW transportation on NYE. The parking lots usually fill to capacity. Even more importantly, you don't want to be driving if you stay for midnight. The traffic jams are crazy since most of the capacity crowds are all leaving at the same time. If you are on a Disney bus, they will sometimes use shortcuts that they don't normally use. I'm not sure where they're driving but they have ways of getting around some of the worst of the traffic.

I would go into one of the parks for NYE. The MK is going to be packed to the gills. There should be room at Epcot, but perhaps MGM is the best bet. They will be showing Sorcery in the Sky that night.
