New Year's Eve

So--do you stay home or do you go out and party? We're definitely the stay at home type. I can't remember the last time I went out on New Year's Eve. Starting the New Year with a hangover just seems like you're getting off on the wrong foot.

We'll be having all sorts of appetizers, watching a movie marathon, and drinking sparkling apple cider at midnight.

What are you doing NYE?

I'm usually asleep by 10:30.

We take turns deciding on plans. Last year it was my turn and we went to a concert at HoB. This year it's DH's tuen and we're staying home.

When we go out we don't get raging drunk. In fact last year I didn't have a single drink, DH had a beer or two.

Yeah, me, too, actually, but I promised dd I'd stay up until midnight with her. We're taking bets as to whether dh will make it. I'm thinking no.

Our best friends are coming over for dinner, then we have a few fireworks to set off at midnight. No doubt we will all be complaining that it isn't as good as last NYE as we were in MGM to celebrate that one!

We will be going to my DSIL's house, where we have a nice quiet dinner party, casual, with a group of about 15 friends. We struggle to stay awake til midnight, watch the ball drop, and then go home and go to bed.

I'm so glad we're not the only ones! I was shocked--when I told dd, 16, the plan, she got really excited about it. In fact, she was the one who scoped out the sparkling apple cider at the grocery store yesterday.

When I was a kid, my parents always had a big spread for just us. They were both incredible cooks so we looked forward to this all year. We'd stay up until midnight and we'd each get a tiny glass with a little taste of champagne. When I got to be a teenager, my friends would always come to our house. After I moved away, my dad called me laughing and told me that several of my friends had stopped by on New Year's Eve to have some goodies.

I am going to a wedding.. Not sure why they planned it for NYE but it will be a fun way to spend the evening. BTW this is the 2nd NYE wedding we have been to so it must be "in" in certain circles.

We are going to a party at a friends house. Its nice because we all bring our kids. The kids usually play in the basement and the adults hang out upstairs.

We're going to a hockey game. The game is followed by an indoor fireworks display, and a little year in review video. Then we'll come home and I'll probably be in bed before midnight; I have to work all day the next day. We're not partiers. This is the third or fourth year in a row we've gotten tickets to this game.

I always stay home on New Year's Eve. I don't like being out in bars and stuff on that night because there are too many people who only go out one night a year. And I'm not a big drinker.

I wanted a NYE wedding. But we could not find a hall. So we got married in the evening on New Years Day.

We don't know where we are going yet. If DH can work and get OT he is going to do that. If not we were invited to BILs but they live over an hour away. Friends of ours that are local are having a get together so we may just stop by there.

We do this every year. This is the first we aren't doing it and I'm kind of bummed. It was always fun. This year we are staying in and eating playing games and watching movies.
