Just wondering what everyone was doing NYE? Are you going out to a party? Hanging out at home? Having people over?

We're going over my SIL's house to play board games and chow on some snacks. Have been doing this for the past couple years and we have fun doing it. We've really never been big party people (and seriously, only stayed at past midnight on NYE a couple times) ;)

So what are you doing? If you're staying home or going to a friends house, what are you eating? I think my SIL is getting a meat/cheese tray and we'll make our own grinders, some chicken wings, shrimp cocktail and I'm bringing some sweet/sour hotdogs, chips/dip, cheese/pepperoni tray and a dessert.

How about you?

I may make a beef tenderloin on New Years Eve but I plan on being in bed by 10:00 p.m. I never get enough sleep and weekends are the time that I want to catch up.

Absolutely nothing.. DD has to work and my son-in-law and DGD will probably go up to a friend's place at the lake for the weekend..

I've never liked New Year's, so being alone is fine with me..:thumbsup2

It depends on how we're feeling. I've been sick with some respiratory thing that I haven't been able to shake for about 3 weeks. I think I'd be happy staying home with DH, a pizza, and a bottle of sparkling white grape juice.

I'm on-call, and working the next morning! I probably won't be called out, but I'll need to be near my car (and very sober), so I'll be going to a friend's house, toasting in the New Year with a cuppa tea, and watching the fireworks from her attic window. It'll be wild :cool1: Or perhaps not.

Probably doing what I do every year (even though I want and have tried to change it)...lying in bed, alone, waiting for the ball to drop, then saying, "Well, I guess that's that. Another year gone, another year with nothing to show for it," turning off the TV, and crying myself to sleep.

:lmao:

OK, I know I shouldn't be laughing, but it's nice to know it's not just my night that'll be a little lame.

Should there be a support group set up for those who are RUBBISH at celebrating New Year?

We are having a kids NYE party. Now, we don't actually HAVE any kids, but do have a number of children in our lives that we spend A LOT of time with. So we offer to keep the kids so the parents can do whatever they want.

It's really a lot of fun! We have fancy drinks (of course, they're non-alcoholic!), have lots of kid-friendly food and music, and drop the ball at 9:00 pm. We march up and down our block with noisemakers wishing our neighbors a Happy New Year.

Hanging out at home with my boyfriend. We aren't really party animals.

Spend it with your DIS friends. :thumbsup2

I've never been a big fan of New Year's Eve...so DH and I usually just stay home, have some wine, snuggle on the couch.

My best friend is coming into town to join my sister and I for a New Year's Eve celebration! :) The three of us are going out to dinner to the Weber Grill and then off to a club for some late night dancing! I can't wait! :)
