New Year's Eve First Night of Cruise

We will be on the Fantasy leaving out December 31, 2016. Being that New Years Eve is the first night I am wondering what to expect. I have read the other posts and looked at the navigators regarding New Years Eve but these have all seemed to be with New Years Eve occurring later in the trip. Anybody have any experience with New Year's Eve on first night?

NYE fell on our the 2nd night, which was a sea day and so it was Formal night as well as special new years eve celebration. I would assume you still will have a deck party at late in the evening on the first night, just don't know if it will be formal night.

We were on the Dream that sailed NYE 2015. The first night was a special menu in the MDRs, deck party with wait staff passing champagne, the Time Square ball drop on Funnelvision and then fireworks at midnight. Everyone got hats in their staterooms to wear to the deck party.

We just booked the New Years cruise too and we were told the first night will be a formal night being New Years Eve. Also told Champagne, sparkling cider and party favors will be given.

Thank you soooooo much for starting this thread!! I will be watching closely, my BFF & I are on the same cruise. It is our first DCL and to say we are excited is a huge understatement!!

I'm so happy it's a formal night, how could it NOT be, right? We plan on consuming as much champagne as possible on the entire trip.

We were booked for this same cruise but got talked into cruising with our first cruise group a month earlier. You guys have a blast! Perhaps we'll eventually take a NYE cruise. No better place to be to avoid amateur night than on the water!
