I went to Universal and Islands of Adventure for New Year's Eve. I was expecting.. well, let's just say I told my friends "we might not get to ride anything.. but I really just wanna go for the atmosphere." Citywalk was super crowded and there was so many people leaving the parks I was like.. it's going to be a NIGHTMARE. But it wasn't bad at all!
And I had no Express.. which I haven't done in YEARS. But the waits were fine. We waited about 25 minutes for Jaws (at night... which I LOVE.. and the FIRE WAS BACK!!!), about 10 minutes for Revenge of the Mummy.
Then we headed to Islands and did:
Jurassic Park River Adventure (5 Min)
Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls (0 Min).. did that twice.. it was GREAT at night and ALL the effects were working!!
Spiderman (45 Min)
Hulk (30 Min)
We also spent some time around the dance stages.. the music was GREAT! And you could hear it all around the parks. It was so fun hearing different music around the parks from different artists. Lots more people at Islands and there were definitely better New Year's festivities.
The fireworks at midnight at Islands were FANTASTIC. Wow. I really enjoyed them.. they were shot to a mix of the scores from Twister, T2, Jaws, E.T. and Jurassic Park. It's been a while since I've seen a good fireworks show at Universal. We all loved it.
Ate at Enchanted Oak.. it's been much better before. Mythos had no BBQ Fried Chicken Wrap for dinner so my friend wanted to pass. Too bad I still could've eaten EVERYTHING on the menu. haha
Also.. we saw The Grinch.. who I love. AND HE LOOKED AND ACTED SO GOOD! I almost can't believe it sometimes. Movie quality. A young girl went up to him to take a picture and he pushed her back out of the line with his hand on her face. It was so Grinch... I was laughing hysterically.
The only downer was leaving the parking garage. We waited for a good 20/30minutes in the car before even moved. That's why I asked about preferred parking.. I hate that.. I usually stay on-site and don't have to worry but I wasn't going to pay $300 for a room at the Royal Pacific when I can get it for $150 usually.
