This website was so helpful to me as I planned my recent Disney trip that I wanted to give something back and thought I would share some of my recent experience at the Sheraton Vistana Resort.
My family recently spent a week at the Sheraton Vistana. We checked in on December 29th and Checkoed out on the 6th. We received a room in the Fountains I section (my mother recently purchased her SV timeshare in the Fountains I and II on eBay). The unit was spacious and clean. It was also very close to both the Fountains and Lakes pools.
We received the VIP check in (We were called ahead of our check in and told that we were being upgraded from Diamond Lane). No lines, no wait and we actually had our room at 1:20 pm - a full 2 hours and forty minutes before normal check in time. We also enjoyed some complimentary Rum Punch and Champagne. Our "host" did ask us to attend a breakfast which we accepted expecting full well that we would get the Starwood Sales pitch. The good news, though is that when we came back for the breakfast, our host was already in hot negotiations with a prospective buyer. We got no sales pitch, but a free brunch!
I loved the location of being in the Fountains section of Vistana. From the front door of our unit, we were only about five minutes or so to the Disney parking lots. There was a Walgreens about six blocks away from the unit that offered just about anything one would need that might have been forgotten at home. It also had a liquor store attached.
We decided not to go into a park on New Year's Eve, but were very pleasantly surprised that we could clearly see and hear the fireworks from Downtown Disney (Pleasure Island) from the Lakes Pool. Great show!
My only criticism of the Vistana was that Housekeeping needed a lesson in client service. We needed extra pillows and had to call three times to get them. During our midweek clean up, the housekeeper failed to leave washcloths and, once again, it took three phone calls to get washcloths (although they did deliver extra place mats which were not requested after the first washcloths request).
I read a lot of comments about how dated the decor of the units at some of the older sections of Vistana were. Our unit had been freshly painted. The unit seemed to be more up to date than a lot of the rooms in my own home.
We loved the washer and dryer in the unit and if we would have done anything differently, it would probably have been to have brought 1/3 the amount of clothes that we packed.
We can't wait to go back and I won't hesitate to stay in the Fountains I section again.
