the fires are about 10 miles from our house....it's just SOOOO many acres and with the wind (not tooooo much but enough), it's really blowing the ashes everywhere....my office window is the one that always stays open for a nice cross breeze, and the whole sill is covered inside and out.....we have plantation shutters (white) and they too are covered....so i'm cleaning this whole room but while i'm in here....i'm sorting thru old paperwork and throwing out as much as i can that i no longer need.....UGGGHHHH - it's a chore for sure!!!

Glad you're home (now) and have the wkend to unpack and settle at home before going back to work....

Have DS' football game today - so will give me a break from this lovely chore i'm determined to finish this wkend...i should have a box or 2 of shredding / recycle stuff :rotfl2: i think i should do this annually.....instead of every 5 years:lmao: :lmao:

Just got off the 4 day Wonder and booked a 'placeholder' cruise to lock in the 10% discount. I chose the last cruise possible - which so happens to be the 12/27/08 cruise. My plans were to wait for the 2009 dates to come out and move the discount to a 2009 date.

But the more and more I think about the 12/27/08 cruise the more I think I may give it a try (NYE and the fact that the kids wont miss school is my main motivation)... but I cant get over the price... this cruise costs only $1000 less (after the discount) than the 15 day repostioning cruise (without a discout) that I am booked on! :scared1:

hi silmarg: yes I'm on the west repo and this cost between these 2 cruises are less than $1K. (DH is not happy with my DCL budget for 2008) We cruised before Xmas 2005 and it too was this price. It's the cost we pay for traveling at the peak peak season. Just think when and if we ever cruise off season we'll feel like it will be the sail/sale of the cenury :lmao: maybe we should be singing repo cheapo huh???

Hi silmarg, the difference is noticeable but for me it is well worth it.

I don't cruise. It is a very special occassion to get me on the ship at all. But as Nan can attest, it is well worth the expense.

I had a very quiet vacation this last week because we chose to go off season and everyone we wanted to be with is had to be home for school.

I like the idea of having my entire family together for a holiday doing something special. My kids are 21 and 19 and I don't know how many more vacations like this I will get to have with them.

Everone has their reasons for cruising or vacationing when they do.I look forward to next new years and hope you will be joining us for an unforgettable, once in a lifetime cruise.

Silmarg~come and cruise with us....it is more....but I am SURE it will be worth the extra $$$....we (DS & I as DH just will NOT cruise) & some good friends are SOOOOO looking forward to this "holiday" cruise with some really fun people.....

Tigg....just went thru your photos....all very cool!! What an awesome place to vacation....

For now, I will assume I am doing it (NYE cruise cruise that is). Being home for XMAS with the extended family, yet going away for the holidays and the kids not missing any school sounds like the perfect combination.

The fact that I have promised my parents we would do Italy with them in the Summer of 09 (they are immigrants and want my DDs to see it) limits my ability to take a summer of 09 cruise anyway.

Subscribing.

AWESOME!!! Send us your names & ages of the travelers & it can get added to the list (as seen on page 1 of this threaD!)

You will really enjoy Italy....DH&I went there just last fall & loved it sooo much, that i volunteered to coordinate the annual high school trip for my son's HS. They go the summer between their Jr & Sr. years, so i'll be 'chaperoning' that trip next June!!

I noticed a couple stays at SOG in your sig...my Mom, Trinibjill, is retired military and has taken the family and herself many many times to SOG...I must say, I really like it there too.

10 days till i am in New York City!!!:cool1:  :woohoo: Let the countdown begin!!!

why are you going again? just for fun? or work ???

Hi Sil,

This will be my family's first NYE cruise, and we're so excited! I try not to look at the price so I don't :faint: , but I know it's so worth it. We went on the 2005 Christmas cruise, and it was the most exciting , fun vacation we ever had, so imagine NYE with Mickey!

My BIL is military served for 25 years (in both Gulf Wars and recently retired).

SOG is a real bargain!

Just for FUN!!!!FUN!!!!FUN!!!! to celebrate one of those BIG BD's with my best friend from high school. We only see each other about once a year & it's usually only for a few hours...but when we are together, it just doesn't feel like so much time (& so many miles) have separated us.....

I am going to get a brithday button when I go to MK and Epcot!

This is the closest I have ever gone to Disneyworld to my birthday ever and I'm gonna celebrate like it was!
