I think the key to having your fish (or anyhting) stay on your door is attach it well. (zip ties is my idea) and personalize everything. Who wants stuff with someone elses name on it? Of course that would mean that the person that stole our "the Skjerven Family" halloween flag 8 years ago is another skjerven family....NOT! I figure kids will be kids.

We went to Rio Del Mar yesterday. it took 2+ hours over the hill and 1.5 back home (after 10pm) normally 1 hour. SOOOOO much traffic. We used to have BW season passes, but haven't for a few years. Perhaps next year again. one on one or two off....makes the kids more interested when we visit. Hence Disneyland is not anything special for them anymore...we went tooo often in a short period of time.

We are going to Gilroy Gardens (Bonfante Gardens) shortly, taking mom, should be fun and HOT!!!

We go to our boardwalk at seaside once or twice a year, we go mostly for the food.

The only boardwalk in our area with good rides is wildwood and is almost 3 hours away, as opposed to the hour and a half to seaside heights. I haven't been to wildwood in a few years.

As far as people taking stuff, they took moms magnets off her door and I am pretty sure they had her name all over them.

Mom also told me the kids on that cruise were a little out of control, making out in the stairwells was one comment I remember quite clearly. I told Britt about that and made it very clear how I felt about that.

Just a little WDW update. O'Canada in Epcot has re-opened. I had listened to a podcast about how they were re-doing it. A little old, a little new with Martin short talking thru-out.

since I have to be frugal with my money (paying off bills, planning a new car in April & A CRUISE in Dec. I don't mind watching spoilers about WDW.

Ricky Brigante "Inside the Magic" went to the opening of the 360º viewing & filmed it. He showed it on his podcast. It is excellent.

Good idea Nan about attaching them well. The things they took off of our door were magnets & yet they only took some of them.

I made door signs for each member of our Dis group for our Christmas cruise. They were all personalized to each persons personality, and were sort-of 3'D. But I made the mistake of printing them all out the night before we left for Florida, and found that my printer wasn't working. I wanted to shoot myself...all that work for nothing. On the bus, I showed Nan the door signs which I still had on my laptop buy couldn't print. My kids and I ended up making a door sign when we were already onboard, with some markers and scrapbook stuff I brought, but I felt SO bad that everyone I promised didn't get their signs. But I will this time! I'll just make sure I get them printed WAY before our cruise date in case of printer trouble again.

This was my first attempt when Mel was still coming with us. Never got to use it, because of said printer. But now I have even better ideas!

Okay here's a good idea, you can be my DCL scrap mentor. I still haven't started my Xmas 2005 cruise album. Ok, I have a goal now we can get started. Once again, when I'm at my desk I'll email you and we can set a date for me to scrap with you. did you set the plans for the Carmel?Seaside weekend? Sorry if you told me allready, my brain is mushy lately.

Haven't heard what caused that fire yet...but as you probably saw on the news, they don't expect it to be out till today sometime, and it's burnt over 3000 acres....with the wind yesterday & all that dry land, i'm sure it's a tough one to contain.

We haven't been to the "gardens" in about 4 years i guess....but glad your mom enjoyed it....it is definitely gorgeous...

Still waiting on that "invitation" for Carmel....hoping that the gal in charge is going to get to that this week...i actually sent her an email because i have about 5 people wanting to get registered (it sells out fast).....but it's definitely nov 9th-11th...so schedule those dates in your calendar....i will bring my '05 cruise album for some ideas as well as my april one that i'm still working on. It will be sooo much fun to have you (& Molly) there!!!

Thanks Grim... We will def. have to try the Rasul Spa. We had a ressie for it on our last cruise Halloween '06 4 night cruise, but ended up canceling. We went w/the Castaway Cabana Massage for 2... that was romantic.. but no alone time!!!

My DS returns to school today so, once I've got the last minute panic over stationary and/or named socks (I predict 3pm GMT) out of the way, my path to organised cruising is clear!

...Also, heard about those private spa areas on the Magic.. that you can get a massage for 2. If there is no baby by then.. or there is an its time to start on #2.. then.. that might just be the place to go!!

Ah the Spa Villas! DH and I have a session booked there. Not sure how - er, private it is tho...

It's a nice, quiet evening here. The kids are doing hw, Mel's watching baseball, and I'm ready to snuggle up and go to sleep. I spent the day doing laundry. I don't know how it piles up like that! My kids have more clothes than they know what to do with, it's crazy. But I won't complain, because this past July was one year since I left my job, and I'm much happier managing my home full time instead of going to work.

Nan, Debbie, and Brenda, I saw the California fires on the news. I think it's over now, but wow, it looked scary!

I'm going to check out ebay now, that evil evil place, before I fall asleep!

it sure has cast an ugly gray "haze" over the town of gilroy....and 10000+ acres burnt...the only good thing about fires is the regrowth afterwards....

I did sensory therapy with nursing home residents, mainly with residents on ventilators with little or no mobility. It served a very important need for them, and I really gave it my all, put my heart into my work, but it became heartbreaking for me. During the 2005 cruise, Nan and her DH talked me through my difficult decision to leave the job, and they were so encouraging. I remember thinking I'd be useless and have no value if I didn't work...I know, I was a pathetic case. But it was the best decision for me and my family.

Most likely it was us preaching the live your life not live your job theory (which has kept us working to pay for cruises...instead of retirement...oh I better fix that attitude some day huh?)

Aisling, I haven't worked for a very scary 15 years - since I became pregnant with Samuel actually and it's taken me a l-o-n-g time to feel validated. Prior to that I'd worked as a Psych nurse (which I loved) but the hours were long, the work emotionally draining, the conditions hair-raising and I hardly saw my kids. So I retrained as a primary school teacher (4-7 year olds) to fit in with the children's timetable. I really didn't enjoy that at all (OMG the parents!) and, even tho' I tried to go back once Samuel was born, my heart wasn't in it. Then Richard was seconded to Paris and TBH I was happy to run away to the City of Light for a couple of years...

When we came back, I struggled to find something that fitted with me and my family commitments but no luck. My big kids were at crucial stages in their education and I wanted to make sure I was 'there' for them. However, this past year, I've really felt the need to do something for me. So, after much searching and discussion with Richard, I've decided to train as a psychotherapist. I've found the perfect course and I'm working on my application at the moment...
