I guess Exotic or Loud and Friendly would be good, probably not fancy as it is only going to be lunch. I will check the website referred to above, a quick look shows menus, are these all inclusive menus or just a sampling of what they have. Give me your opinions on which is the most "unique" experience.

I would say a very unique experience would be Whispering Canyon, but be forewarned, there's no "whispering" going on!!!!!!!!!! If you get in for the first opening of the day for lunch (or dinner), they ring thr cowboy dinnerbell to announce the opening, and make a big deal about it.
The servers are very interactive, and hilarious. When I gave my Disney Rewards card to pay, the server brought it back all in pieces and said it was invalid and he had to cut it up!!!!!!!! Of course I reacted like a lunatic, but then realized it was a joke, my card was valid and NOT in pieces...it was a prop card that he used.
Another thing, the most famous thing, is that they don't put ketchup on the tables, and when you ask for it, they make a BIG DEAL, either having your kids stand on their chairs and shout I NEED THE KETCHUP, and then people who have some will all bring tons of bottles to your table, or if the kids don't want to do it, the server shouts for ketchup, and then all the servers get into it. They also have the kids do horsey races, the teens, too, and there's even a funny thing they do with the adults. I don't want to give too much away. The food is plentiful, and very good. If you decide to go there, I'll be happy to fill you in on some things the kids can say to the servers that'll get BIG funny reactions out of them!!!! It's all part of the experience. But they also know when to leave you alone if you don't want to be involved. But truely, this place is not just for a great meal, but for the "horseplay" and interaction. When they bring the food out, they bring out a foldable tray thingy that they make gallop like a horse. Ok I'm saying too much. Let me know if you want to know more, but believe me it'll be a meal to remember!!!!!!!!!!! This place is good if you don't want to use a ticket to get into the parks, because it's in the Wilderness Lodge.

One more thing, if you get caught using your cell phone at the table, the servers will come over and want to talk to the person you're on the phone with!

Ok only one more, the soda refills are free. First they bring it in a large glass, then they bring it in a mason jar, and then they bring it in a pail with a straw!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Brenda, I'm so glad to hear that Ryan is ok. How scary. A big hug to you both!!
Thank you SOOOOO much!!!
I was thinking about formal night on the cruise, yes I'm obsessed, and I decided that I'm not going to wear a long gown afterall, and my men aren't going to wear tuxes. I have a few beautiful dressy dresses to choose from, and my guys have dark suits, and to keep costs down, I've decided to not buy any formal clothes and just use what we have. Yesterday a friend who I haven't seen in a while asked me "are you losing weight?", and that made me feel so good, my new eating style is working slowly but surely. So that means I won't be wearing that red tent of a gown that I wore on our last cruise! It's too big now! :cool1: So I'll be selling it on Craigslist. CONGRATS to you!!!! & HOW FUN when things are "too big" & i'm kind of hoping to be able to get into a dress i already have as well....none of you have seen them & i haven't seen them (on me) for a long time either...so they are like new & TBH - probably only been worn once - maybe twice
I have some housework and banking to do today. I have my crock pot on, so dinner is cooking for tonight. I'm meeting a couple of girlfriends for lunch, but I have to be careful, as they like to "drink" their lunch, if you know what I mean. Yes i do!! but have a nice time!!! :rotfl:

I have my camera, so if I see anything interesting, I'll take some pics and post them.

I'll check back in later, and I wish you all a good day. :goodvibes
& have fun too!!!!

Maybe if you start with a theme?

Do you want fancy, elegant, loud and friendly or exotic?

for example...if you want; you may want

Fancy/Elegant - Narcosees, Artist Palette, Wolfgang Puck
Exotic - Jiko, Ohana, Rainforest
Loud and Friendly - Whispering Canyon, Chef Mickey, Boma

I guess the issue is not all the restaurants are open for lunch... :goodvibes

morning...yep way toooooo early to be up...but couldn't sleep....so doing laundry. ryan had a little 'accident' yesterday & his car is now in the body shop with an undetermined amt of damage. Fortunately he is OKAY....quite shaken up of course - as it was his very first incident...but the car may not be worth repairing....we won't know till they lift it up & check out the frame...we'll just have to see once they get that estimate. This is just one of those things that no one likes to deal with or needs - whether it's to repair that car or get him another - not even sure we'd do that....we had really hoped a 9 yr old acura would get him thru HS.
OMG, Brenda!!! So glad Ryan's OK!!! I hope you can resolve the car issue... It's really tough to be able to drive in the UK and both of my big kids have failed their tests several times so still rely on me, Dick and Joe to ferry them around. The joke here is that Samuel will pass his test before his considerably older siblings - we'll see... ;)

Sounds like a great idea! I'm a midget and I'm not convinced that long frocks are exactly flattering for my height!! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: If it wasn't for the fact that my DS sooo wants to wear a white tux on our cruise in August, I'd be downplaying the whole thing - as it is, I'm just banking on the photos being priceless... :goodvibes

As far as clothes go - despite my good intentions, everything's feeling sooo tight on me at the moment!!! I need to find my mojo and lose 14lbs asap!!! Ah well, maybe tomorrow... ;)

Is it wrong that I wanna say "that's my kinda lunch"...? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hope you had a great time, Aisling...

oh that would be hilarious if he does ;) - the US is starting to implement more & more rules for teen drivers....ALLLLLL GOOD i think....especially in highly populated areas.....where there are more cars than road....

It is done!!!!

OMG Nan, she looks gorgeous, and so much older! I can't get over the awesome color of her hair, my dream color. Tell her I'm so proud of her for what she did for Locks of Love. And I now have the same haircut, but parted in the middle. But the back is exactly the same. Does she love her new hairstyle?

Cute haircut for Molly, she looks more grownup than from the first pictures I had seen of her here.

As for the lunch, that Whispering Canyon sounds like the kids would enjoy it the most, we are just in for something fun, which it appears that would do it!! I don't think we are going to have a ticket to a park, and as mentioned, this is lunch, so not all places available. What kind of food do they have, is it all BBQ?

I like your new hobby Grim!

I have a Disney friend here (named Cruisin) who's hubby flies those things! They live in Ontario and go to flying shows all over the US for him to compete in. They were in FL twice in the last month for him to compete ::yes:: His wife went with him cause while he was "flying" she went over and did Disney~

That's awesome - my goal is to compete in the future, though Dede's certain I have enough planes now as it is :rotfl:

It's not all BBQ; here's a menu, but it's not complete, meaning I had a good steak that I don't see on this menu. They have a kids' menu, too.

Angus Chuck Bacon Cheeseburger - Topped with bacon, cheddar, lettuce, and tomato served with grilled veggie pasta salad or French fries. - $11.49
Buffalo Chicken Salad - Mixed greens with buffalo chicken tenders, black beans, bleu cheese, and apple vinaigrette. - $11.99
Canyon Veggie Plate - Stewed cannellini beans topped with sauteed spinach, oven-dried tomatoes, grilled yellow squash, and fried potato nest with honey-basil-ginger oil. - $10.49
Chicken Salad - Mixed greens with grilled chicken breast, cheddar cheese, candied walnuts, and honey-roasted walnut vinaigrette. - $11.99
Chicken Sandwich - Grilled chicken breast sandwich topped with espresso BBQ sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese, and served with French fries. - $12.99
Our Famous Canyon Skillet All-You-Care-To-Enjoy - Includes smoked pork ribs, oven-roasted chicken, and pork sausage served with beans, corn on the cob, creamy coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and freshly baked corn bread. Priced per person. - $14.99
Pan-seared Rainbow Trout - Served with roasted potatoes, smoked bacon, onions, spinach, and fresh cucumber relish, drizzled with chili oil. - $14.99
Roast Chicken - Served with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. - $14.99
Slow-smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich - Slow smoked pulled pork served with beans, French fries or grilled veggie pasta salad and BBQ sauce. - $9.99
Smoke House Stack Sandwich - Turkey, ham, bacon, American cheese, lettuce, and tomato, with shallot mayonnaise on asiago focaccia bread and served with potato chips. - $9.99

Ask them for a horse steak, and see what happens! LOL

Grim, do you wear one of these when you fly your planes?

And I'm sure Dede knows that boys must have their toys, even big boys!

nskjerven - I love the short hair. I think she looks really good with the shorter hairstyle. I hope she loves it.

All - I haven't gotten caught up with the posts but just checking in. Man you guys can type.

I may not be doing the Tulum ruins trek this time as I'm starting to lean towards doing family excursions more (maybe when the kids are a bit older).

But I am actually thinking about doing a private tour for the Grand Cayman excursion (Sting ray stop) so that the whole family can go (including our 2 year old son). From looking at some of the providers of the private tours it actually looks like smaller toddler children have gone and can either chill out in the boat or get out when we go to say Rum Point, etc. Any of you had experience with the private tours in Grand Cayman? There seems to be a wide array of choices.

Just in case you all might have missed it - looks like the Coast Guard is stopping shipping boxes ahead for cruises

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1758577

I saw that...:( Bummer - we ended up shipping a good amount of stuff the last trip. This time we are taking our son (who will be two at the time) and boy would shipping a box of diapers helped instead of lugging them around. Oh well....

We are still all waiting to see your new (now old) cut..hint hint hint...

I'll pass your comments to her, and yes she is very happy :goodvibes

yes, my little girl is now a young woman :sad2:

Wow Nan - she's all grown up! Her hair looks great!

grim pirate:

Thanks! Waiting for a new picture of Piper, :rolleyes1

nskjerven - I love the short hair. I think she looks really good with the shorter hairstyle. I hope she loves it.

Thanks, she does :goodvibes

Molly looks amazing, Nan! :thumbsup2 And what a wonderful thing for her to do - you must be very proud of her... :goodvibes

I, on the other hand, had a less than positive hairdressing experience today. :( This afternoon, I paid seriously good money for a seriously bad comedy haircut!!! All my fault, I'm afraid, as I decided it would be "fun" to have a fringe (bangs?) cut in - OMG!!!! :scared1: Never was a decision so swiftly made and then so long regretted... I look ridiculous and I can only hope the ill-advised fashion faux pas grows out in double quick time... :sad2:

Yes! Molly looks amazing! And Old! and did SUCH a cool thing at the same time  Britt saw and really likes it too~

I'm doing homework and lurking...

I need ten pics selected for me to print for the hospice Aisling spoke of...who wants to help me pick?

here is the link to the photobucket...tell me if there are different photos you all think would be better...
