Thinking of doing a family reunion at DW next New Years. Is that a wait list time period? If so when do I have to call to get on? At the seven month mark?

My DH thinks it will be no problem to get 3 studios and one two bedroom for that time period....I on the other hand think it may be tough....any opinions out there?

Well HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!

Used to be a special seasons list, but they have not used it since 1999. Just call at your usual 11 month window.

The Special Seasons list was discontinued since the resorts never filled up using it anyway and it was deemed unnecessary at this time. It could be reinstated if demand changes for those dates.

You should be able to find something onsite- even at 7 months.

Good Luck!

This year was unique. Disney offered discounts for travel during this time period, but that hasn't been the case in previous years.

While you may be able to book at 7 months out, if you can do it at 11 months, you'd be better off.

BTW, we're planning on going for New Year's. We love it, crowds and all.:) :)

I recommend you book at your home resort at 11 months (maybe even calling day-by-day since you need so many rooms). If you want to switch to another resort, start calling at 7 months day by day. It may be difficult to switch all of your ressies and you may have to sweat out the wait list. 12/31 will be the most difficult day to get.

I would plan 12/31 - first week of January. The points will be less for all but the first night. Also, would you consider different types of accommodations? Two 2 bedrooms might serve your needs better than all the studios. Also, a GV and studios might be a good option. That, of course, assumes you have 11 month priveldges at a DVC that has GVs.
