How are the crowds on New Years day? Parks and the Fort? We will be driving down and checking in on 1/1 staying until the 4th. Haven't ever been to WDW on New Years and this will be only our second trip to camp at the Fort.

Very excited as this will be only our second trip in our new to us pop-up!!

We arrived at the Fort on Jan. 1, 2014, and to put it mildly, it was a nightmare. We have since learned that the busiest day at the Fort is New Years Day. Because we were traveling with two families, we had requested two sites close. Some of the existing Campers at the Fort had extended their stays, which created a new reservation number. After going to three different campsites, which were occupied, and a CM going to the 4th, in which she also found occupied, after about four hours, we had a site. We hold no animosity towards the Fort Management. Just happened to hit the busiest day for them. Be patient, kind, open a drink, chips, and eventually your site will open. Ours did, and we had an awesome time. We did not go to the Parks for two days, however, to see if the crowds left. I don't think they did!! Patience goes a long way that day. ENJOY. We are going back late December 2015, so will avoid New Year's Day check in.

Been there once for new years day and believe it was our arrival day or the first day there. We expected MK to be packed so we went to Epcot or Hollywood during the day and MK that night for the fireworks.

I figured MK would be crowded on New Years day. Kinda fully expect crowds at the park to be on the heavy side.
I think I am more worried about check in at the Fort. We should arrive around 4 pm (hopefully no later). Just don't want to feel rushed about getting backed in to the site.
