Hello everyone,

My family and I will be staying at Hard Rock during New Years and I was hoping for somesuggestions. My kids are 12 and 13 and the lobby party seems like an awful lot of $$ for activities that I think may bore them as they are geared towards younger children. Does anyone have any experiences or suggestions on what we may beable to do instead? My family and I have neverbeen to universal but I am guessing there aresome fun alternatives to the lobby parties. Thanks for your help!

Thank you for the article! It seems it is either adult based or centered around young children. Any experiences or ideas for tweens? Has anyone spent it doing the attractions at Universal Studios? I am wondering if they acknowledge with fireworks at midnight.

This is an excellent question, DisneyDad. I posted a similar one a few weeks back and got very generic answers. I'd like to know what goes on during the time that leads up to the ball dropping in both parks. Do people congregate in a certain spot? Is there a countdown? Fireworks? Best park to be at when the ball drops? etc.

I know what happens in each of the Disney parks but this will also be the first time my family and I go to Universal for New Year's. And I too find that the party at the Hard Rock is crazy expensive for what its offered. I hope some kind soul here that has been to the parks during New Year's Eve post their experience.

Odds are low on fireworks. The parks are too close to a residential area so they don’t often do fireworks. I don’t know what they do but I’m sure someone will chime in. Just explaining the fireworks thing because Disney fans often grumble about that difference. Disney has 40 sq miles to do their own thing so it will be different. :)

For the past few years Universal has done fireworks at midnight, however they recently ended their nightly fireworks show so I'm not sure if they'll do fireworks this year- I would recommend calling and asking.
