New way to pay using Disney gift cards and Disney Rewards Redemption Cards

Sorry if this has already been answered but I just need to double check before buying Disney gift cards. Can I use the gift cards to pay off balances on our magic bands? Or can the front desk apply the gift cards to create a credit on our magic bands? Sam's club has $150 gift cards for $142.98. I was going to buy a couple but only if I can use them to pay off balances accrued on the magic bands. Thanks.

My mom and I get Staples rebates for buying office supplies for our business (paper, pens, etc.) and we use the rebates to buy Disney gift cards at the store. We then use them for our trip! We have been saving for about a year and have almost $500 in rebates to buy Disney gift cards with!

Unless the system has changed since Marathon Weekend, you cannot put money onto your account as a credit. The reason I was given was "We wouldn't know where to refund it if there was leftover." (The cruise line figured it out - BACK ONTO THE GIFT CARD - but I digress.) BUT you can go back periodically and pay off any charges you've made. As long as that is done before checkout, nothing will go onto the credit card you leave. The only exception I'd think would be if something hadn't posted to your account for some reason - a last-minute purchase or something - THAT bit might go onto the credit card. But you could always just pay for anything with the gift card on the last day to avoid any delayed charges.

It wouldn't be a credit if OP is paying off purchases after they are charged to the room. In January we went down and paid off our Magic Band purchases charged to the room every couple of days with Disney gift cards. If you couldn't because they wouldn't know what to refund credits too, then you would never be able to use them for any purchase as the same would apply.

Yes you can use GCs to pay against your balance. No, they will not apply GCs to create a credit.

I paid off my balance due on a room only reservation (done by phone) and then had to cancel one night so I currently have a credit balance and have Disney reward points I want to transfer to our rewards card. Can we use the credit that they currently have first and then during the trip take the card down to apply the amount on the card if needed??? I have never started with a credit before and this will be the first time to charge with magic bands and it seems much easier than carrying around additional cards to get out at checkout...
